Hinduism remains Polygamous(Polygyny)

Polygyny is a form of polygamy entailing the marriage of a man to several women. The Hindu scriptures acknowledge polygyny. It was the norm among kings, the nobility and the extremely wealthy. Polygyny remained customary and widely acceptable among Hindus until it was legally abolished for Hindus in India by the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955. Yet Polygamy is still allowed for Muslims in India because it is considered their religious practice. But What if there was a large enough religious opposition to Hindu Marriage Act of 1955 ? This prevents the passage of that act

You probably need right-wing conservative India to avoiding ban of polygamy.

But this probably wouldn't change really much since it would be only practise of rich upper-class.

Why won't religious opposition be enough
Cuz Post Sepoy Mutiny and formation of INC ,a burgeoning educated middle class who dabbled in western moralities saw polygamy as socially unacceptable.
That is a majority by 1947.
Even most muslims arent polygamus.

How will this effect Indian culture?
I wouldnt have a lot more repurcussions.
Mysogyny would be more.
Lets say your wife is barren, no worry, lets marry a different woman.
Bollywood most likely has many films regarding such households.
These households would most likely be rich, as middle class and poor people would not have the money to marry twice. Especially when when a lot of money is involved in Indian weddings.
However prejudiced poor people might marry twice, if it involves getting dowry.
Speaking of that, dowry wouldnt be banned either.
But realistically, It would have been banned either way.

keep the princely states around somehow and they'd still be polygamous.

There was massive opposition to the Hindu Marriage Act, particularly in allowing women to file for divorce. But I don't know if maintaining polygamy was part of the objections, it isn't religiously important to hindoos in the same way it is to Muslims(and even then, polygamy isn't viewed as better or more sacred in anyway in Islam, it's just explicitly permissible)
