If Harding was less unhealthy (does not die in 1923), he'd probably run in 1924. Granted, the Teapot Dome scandal was "brewing", but Harding remained popular at the time of his death. Considering how weak and divided the Democrats were in 1924, my suspicion is that Harding would be reelected, though perhaps not resoundingly.
That said, would the fatigue of another term for the corrupt, ineffectual Harding administration make 1928 a banner year for the revivified Democrats, who would then be discredited by the stock market crash?
