ETO- 2nd AIF fights alongside US forces

How could ANZACs from the 2nd AIF, as vets of North Africa and the Mideast, during 1943-45 have been able to fight alongside Eisenhower's US troops in ETO ? On top of factors like the Australian govt somehow not being so forceful about demainding the return of ALL Australian ground troops overseas to fight the Japanese, what else would be needed such that Diggers get to link up with elite American outfits like the 82nd and 101st in the invasion of occupied Europe, in the same way as the AIF and AMF in New Guinea served alongside MacArthur's boys from 1942 ?

Would they want to after serving under MacArthur .

Well the answer is simple - there isn't a Pacific Theatre in WW2. Or if there is, it's only restricted to Japanese operations in China & no where else. Thus Australia, NZ, India &, needless to say, the USA concentrates mostly on Europe, whilst a few units are stationed around various places in the Pacific to keep an eye on Japanese intentions in a manner similar to OTL 1939-1941.
