Deadliest Warrior

Has anyone else seen The Deadliest Warrior on Spike? It's an AH fanboy's wet dream!

The premise is that they take two warriors from different periods, run some performance tests on their weapons and equipment, and use a statistical analysis to determine who would win the fight. And, as a bonus, they have a couple of guys re-enact the fight at the end of the show in a nice little cut scene.

So far, they've got on the schedule:
Spartan vs Ninja
Shao Lin Monk vs Maori Warrior
Viking vs Samurai
Pirate vs Knight
Apache vs Gladiator
Green Beret vs Spetznaz
Yakuza vs Mafia
Taliban vs IRA
and a celebrity death match of William Wallace vs Shaka Zulu

Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone else who's like me and has raging debates with friends that start off "Ok, who would win in a fight..."

1. It's more like an ASB forum spelunker's wet dream. ;)

2. I am shocked, just shocked. No Pirate vs. Ninja? :D:D:D

I watch this show.I think it's pretty good .I've been right in about 4 of the matches.I honestly think the Knight got screwed , but it's a computer simulation.

It's crazy though. They are pitting elite soldiers against militia, entertainers against warriors, and combat troops against noncombat specialists. Next we are going to see U.S. nuclear missile technician vs British SAS.

Long range weapons; Minuteman III ICBM vs SA80 assault rifle. 9600 km range and 3 dialable yield thermonuclear warheads vs. 600 meter range and 610 rpm. Sophisticated computer analysis concludes that 998 out of 1000 simulated engagements are won by the missile technician, who defeats his opponent in the first round by unleashing nuclear armegeddon.

We then get to see a clip, where the a missile technician in full dress uniform runs into the SAS trooper in a ghillie suit in a temperate forest. The SAS trooper shoots the technician 3 times, in the head, heart, then the head again. The tech falls to the ground, but then pulls out a big red button and presses it. 3 streaks fall from the sky before overlapping explosions obliterate the forest and reduce the SAS man to his component atoms. The tech then amazingly crawls out of a hole he dug, and fist in the air, screams out THIS IS AMERICA!

The first thing I asked when I heard about this show was, is there going to be a pirates vs. ninjas match?. Then I found out no, there isn't but there are pirates and ninjas. So I'm happy.

What I'd like to see is a modern unit against an obsolete large number of units. For example, Royal Navy Ship of the Line from 18th century against Imperial Roman Navy. Do cannons beat numbers?

I get a kick out of it, particularly the announcer who's obvious a huge fan of the movie 300. The thing to remember is not to take it too seriously because some of the matches are just silly. I mean Mafia vs. Yakuza?!

Also some were quite informative as well as entertaining. For example I really like the Spartan vs. Ninja episode.

I turn off my brain and enjoy the kick ass weapons and fight when I watch that show.I really enjoyed the Pirate vs Knight episode .Especially at the end of the fight when the pirate opens the visor and shoots the knight in the face and then laughs.Good times.

Not to be taken too seriously. The idea that you can punch some numbers into a computer to figure out who would win is ridiculous.

Yep. Same thoughts here. And some of the match ups are a bit unclear: Pirate vs Knight for example. First, Pirates and Knights what what eras? Theres quite a bit of differance between doing in a knight from circa 1066 vs a knight from the late-1400s. Second, any restrictions on weapons? I mean if the pirate is given a musket and a clear field of fire then unless we're talking about an extremely late era-knight it's kind of a forgone conclusion.

Just a quick question for anyone who watches this show: what do you think of the coming IRA/Taliban match-up? I'm kind of surprised they're going through with it, TBH. They're gonna get a lot of complaints about this episode...

I love the show and I'm glad it seems like they've begun planning a second season, It's my second favorite show only being beaten by Mythbusters.

IRA vs Taliban may be a little controversial, but in a way so was Green Berets VS Spetznaz. I'm sure they'll say something in the episode to calm down anyone who may be offended by the episode.

I thought that Scottish guy was pretty racist during the William Wallace vs Shaka Zulu fight.

If they're using the IRA from the Troubles , then the IRA wins.I wonder what experts they're gonna use ?

Well so far from the previews, they have given the IRA AR-18s and flamethrowers, and the Taliban AKseries and RPG-7. So first glances suggest that they may have done a bit of research to figure what the IRA has/had in their arsenals.

I love that show.

I can't wait for IRA vs Taliban.

I wonder if they'd ever do pirate vs ninja?

love the show, its fun to watch altough not realy always all that acurate

take the one with the knight and the pirate for instance.

the do a test with the granado and conclude that it's deadly at close range against unarmored targets but couldn't penetrate armor of the knight even at close range.

than the run the simulation and the granado makes by far the most kills of all weapons.....that is rather unrealistic espesialy when you also have the kinght charging at him on a horse should be kinda hard to hit, let alone achieve a kill witch the just showed earlyer wasn't possible anyway.

but other than so screwups like that its quite a cool and entertaining show :D
