DBWI: WI the Bulls didn't draft Malone in 1985?

Howdy.

I've just been watching The Last Dance, about Michael Jordan's final season with the Bulls in 1999, and according to the documentary, the Bulls were considering selecting a player named Keith Lee with their pick in the 1985 NBA Draft, but Jordan reportedly convinced them to draft power forward Karl Malone instead. We all know what happened from there. In 1987, with their two picks in the first round, the Bulls drafted power forward/center Horace Grant and center Olden Polynice, and traded Grant to Seattle for their first-round draft pick, which was...Scottie Pippen.

With the "Terrible Trio" of Jordan, Malone, and Pippen (along with other players), the Bulls won their first NBA title in 1990, and won every NBA final in the 1990s, except for the 1994 final against the Houston Rockets (in one of the all-time classic NBA Finals, considered to be up there with the 1984 NBA finals), winning a total of 9 championships, and equaling the 1950s-1960s Boston Celtics in terms of being a successful dynasty (indeed, a popular game on WhatIfSports has been matching up the teams from the 1990s Bulls and the 1950s-1960s Boston Celtics)...

So, WI the Bulls had selected Keith Lee instead? For one thing, it butterflies away Karl Malone's appearance in Space Jam. It likely also butterflies away a few of the Bulls' 1990s titles, as well...

Also, who would select Malone? The Utah Jazz were interested in him, from what The Last Dance documentary has said.

Or, WI the Dallas Mavericks select Malone with the eighth draft pick (as Malone was convinced they were going to do--to the point that he rented an apartment in Dallas; the Mavericks picked Detlef Schrempf instead (who?))?

ObWI: WI the Bulls had selected Reggie Miller instead of Horace Grant?
