DBWI: "Hogan's Heroes" doesn't get a final season.

"Hogan's Heroes" is best remembered these days as the only program that survived the CBS "Rural Purge" of 1971 (It also just happens to be one of my favorite shows of all time). As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the two-hour series finale, that got me thinking: What if it got the axe along with all the other shows that year? How would the cancellation have affected the cast, especially Bob Crane? Would we have been deprived of the three TV movies? What of the sequel series? And the 2016 reboot?

Probably get a TV movie instead ala Gilligan's Island.

May lead to sequels in Korea or Vietnam as the setting.

The highlight of the final episode is the return of Ivan Dixon in his role as SSGT Ivan Kinchloe and what happened to his character in Season Six

>May lead to sequels in Korea

Hogans Heros came at a time which meant that the general public were perfectly placed for an American audience ignorant of history and for a historians narrative not yet influenced by Destruction or Ordinary Men. Even MASH bashed it’s head against awareness of the war in Korea.

>or Vietnam

Just after Rambo for maximum impact eh? Before or after Deer Hunter or Platoon?

Yeah, what DID happen to him anyway?
He had to leave Stalag 13 as part of the effort to get General von Schmutz to England. Fortunately, Klink was more than agreeable to Hogan’s suggestion that Kinch’s absence be ignored to maintain his record.

Oh, yeah. Nearly forgot about that.
