What if they decidedly didn't remove themselves from the United States? What would the American continent and the world at large look like?

Perhaps? "America" is shorthand for the United States, however. Perhaps I should've used the "United States" in my title, apologies!

The Carolinas and Georgia would never secede from the USA, or at least not as easily as in OTL.
