Yucatan is visited regullarly but it is described as a backwater and doesn't receive many attention apart from missionary activity, some trade and the rescue of shipwrecked from the "cannibals". By 1529 the Welser obtain a commercial concession in the west, instead of in Venezuela like in OTL, and German, Dutch and Flemish colonists starts to mix with the Spanish in the New World. Some time after a colony is founded in the site of OTL Veracruz, Governor Ambrosius Ehringer receives an embassy from the Emperor Cuitlahuac with kilos of gold and the rest is predictable.
