British American War in 1865?

accepting, for argument's sake, this WW. it basically boils down to Britain/France/Austria vs Prussia and the US. Prussia is fooked, as the US isn't sending it's troops across the pond. Austria and France are taking care of Prussia by themselves, and Britain is going to ensure that's the case.

IF it had the will for a bigger war (doubtful), the US has a world class army. CSA is pretty much kaput in '65, so if the US decides to take on Britain, it could probably take on Britain/Canada on land. Britain rules the seas, though. This is the only theater where there's any question of the outcome.

Russia is really the only wildcard. Does it draw off enough European/British power to give Prussia a chance (doubtful- they're going down quickly) or give the US a boost?

Discount almost all of the south american countries. Brazil needed major help early on from Argentina to hold off Paraguay, and then took a few more years basically on it's own to finish off an isolated Paraguay. It'd be Lopez's dream come true to have more active enemies for Brazil and Argentina. He might've actually pulled off his quest for platine domination. Not sure if Chile had built it's decent army yet, but none of the south americans have any ability to project power beyond regionally. Brazil has a navy, but I'm guessing it was built for regional use rather than globally. Don't look for much help from any south american country.

Mexico, with France occupied elsewhere is at best a civil war (as OTL), or more likely an earlier grave for Max. All the US has to do here is just ensure Max's demise. If it had expansionist designs, it's going to go after the much more attractive Canada, which is the more realistic threat anyway. Count Mexico out of the picture.
