Best possible Czech 38T light tank

OTL 1938, Czechs introduced a 9 ton light tank on a very reliable chassis. By mid-War it’s 37mm main gun was out-classed by medium tanks, so 38T hulls were re-purposed as SP guns. Post-War, Sweden rebuilt theirs as Pbv 301 APCs/IFVs.

WI Czechs updated 38T with sloped, welded armour and a wider turret ring? What is the largest main gun a turreted 38T chassis could carry without exceeding 10 tons?
You are allowed to consider novel turrets like the oscillator installed on French AMX-13.
What role would updated 38T fulfill?
How much could 38T Kitten APCs reduce Panzergrenadier casualties?

At work.

Wiking?

Might you link to the 'Alternate Tank History' thread to show off the awesome modelling work that is the 'Otter'?

Cheers.

I think you have to look at the turret ring size for these options first. At that point in history, there wasn't a baseline size so you couldn't just stick another turret this tank.

If the chassis is modified it could theoretically increase the turret ring diameter, but that would require modifying production lines, which wasn't cheap...but much cheaper than phasing in an entirely new design.

Sponson-style hull extension. It can be even angled, minimal weight increase.

Make the hull welded, that would men weight decrease - and more stylis.

Get rid of the hull MG, maybe even the MG/radio operator, single plate front armor (ofcourse, angled).

With the increased turret ring, a simple, bigger but three man turret with something more of a punch... due to ammo size, 47mm? Maybe 75 mm with bussel?

IMHO, OTL already partially turned the 38T into the nearly best possible armoured vehicle in 1944 with the hetzer: a very effective and relatively cheap conversion of the 38T chassis. Great little, fast and deadly tank destroyer. A bit cramped for the crew though... But who cares about the crew's comfort? :p
