    The Goodwill Games Committee released a statement saying that when Bob Iger announced his acquisition, he jumped the gun by stating that ESPN and ABC would cover the Goodwill Games starting 2009. Iger led a consortium to acquire the ratings-troubled Goodwills from TBS-Paramount, but the Goodwills are still technically independent of the Henson media empire for which Iger serves as chairman of the board. Today, the GGC said in that same statement that they have informed Iger that his broadcasting platforms will have to bid for the Goodwills with others having expressed an interest.

    MPAA grants Peacock Releasing a waiver to allow existing trailers for Popeye the Sailor Man to be reedited to insert the Paramount logo ahead of the film's May 2008 release. Turner Broadcasting, who've held multimedia rights to the Popeye property outside of the newspaper strip since the 1990's, merged with Microsoft's Paramount subsidiaries to form TBS-Paramount less than three weeks ago.
