Alternate wives for Edward VIII?

Resurrections from the Dustbin of History by Simon Louvish (incidentally, one of the finest AH stories I’ve ever read) mentions Edward VIII having married Maud - at least I’m pretty sure it’s Maud (I cant find the section right now to double check) - implied as a PoD.

The rest of the book is meticulously researched, so I imagine it’s got something to it, rather than a name picked out of thin air.

I’ve always assumed it’s Lady Maud Duff being referred to.

If Ingrid of Sweden married Edward VIII, who would Frederik IX marry. The anti-German feeling wasn't as strong in Denmark, so I suppose a German princess was most likely.

Or, if he wanted someone a little more exotic, he might have married one of the daughters of Abigail Campbell Kawānanakoa, here with the Prince of Wales ...

either Abigail Helen Kapiʻolani Kawānanakoa or her younger sister Helen Lydia Kamakaʻeha Liliʻuokalani Kawānanakoa, both of whom he met in 1920
