After getting screwed over quite a bit by DC and seeing several disappointing movies Alan Moore has been famously "not thrilled" by the translation of IP he's worked on to different mediums. What changes would be needed to create a scenario where Alan Moore is more enthusiastic about adaptations of his work? On the one hand, his comments about the specific narrative effects of the comic book format make sense, but on the other I feel like faithful adaptations that capture his tone and themes effectively could be better received given a more positive early interaction with the industry.
Could he have managed to spin off his America's Best Comics imprint into a small independent publisher if the rights to Watchmen and other series had remained in his control? Could we have narrowly missed a world with a Promethea movie or a 1963 anthology series? Would there have been a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie that didn't force Sean Connery out of Hollywood?
