AH Map Challenge III

Haha! Victory is Mine! Now for all you map makers, I issue my Map Challenge!

I require a Map of Europe in an ideological Cold War. As far as what the conflicting ideologies are, I leave that up to you, however they cannot be Democracy/Capitalism vs. Communism as in OTL, both sides must have a dominant Nation (ex. USA and USSR), and one side's dominant nation must be a Habsburg Monarchy, though the Monarchy does not have to be based in Austria(come on now you knew when I won I'd want a Habsburgwank).

Further requirements:

- Scotland and Ireland cannot be part of England/Britain, but both must either lead or be held in personal union with a continental European Nation, though not the same one. EDIT. Scandinavian Nations don't count as continental... because I said so.
- France must be balkanized into atleast 3 distinct countries.
- Aragon must be present in some form.
- There must be an Austria-Hungary style Dual Monarchy though not involving either Austria or Hungary.
- The Pope cannot be in Rome or on the Italian peninsula for that matter.
- Russia's borders cannot exceed those of present day Russia's borders. EDIT. In Europe, I don't give a crap about their borders in Central and East Asia.
- The Ottomans/Turks cannot have any holding outside of Asia Minor, aka the Balkans, the Middle East, and Caucasia.
- Switzerland cannot exist, no ifs, ands, or buts.
- There may be some for of third party alternative (ex. OTL's Non-Aligned Movement).
- Other Countries can and should exist besides the ones mentioned.
- The Cold War does not have to occur during the same time our's did.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Behold, an ethnic coldwar set in 1880! Germanic vs Latin nations, with Slavic as a third party.

Hapsburgs are the Kingdom of Lithuania-Poland.

Empire of All Germans leads the Germanic Alliance with the Kingdom England and the Scandinavian Technocracy.

Burgundy leads the Latin Alliance with the Kingdom of Aragon, the Empire of Spain, Republic of Venice, French Republic and Empire of the Two Sicilies.

Slavic Alliance is led by the Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania, with the Republic of Greater Muscovy, and the Ukrainian National Republic.

Howsat?

(note, the Pope resides in OTL Walloonia)

More notes:

The green isn't the Ottoman empire. <_< It's a Persian Empire. Shutup.

As for Scotland and Ireland, it's because of the colors they look similar. Ireland is part of the Celtic Union, Scotland is in union with Spain.

Works for me.

So does Ireland then just have the same President as France does?

The Holy Lutheran Magisterium vs. The League of Catholic States

KEY:

Shades of Pink/Red - The Holy Lutheran Magisterium
Shades of Blue - The League of Catholic States
Shades of Gray - Unaligned States

Background: This "Cold War" takes place in an alternate 1930s where monarchies are still the principal form of government in the world.
Essentially, Martin Luther became far more influential in Austria, rather than Bavaria, and due to a large amount of hand-wavium, had his
Lutheran ideologies adopted by the powerful Habsburg family. Thus, two religious factions were born: the Holy Lutheran Magisterium,
headquartered in Vienna, Austria; and the League of Catholic States, headquartered in Avignon, France. Anything but coincidentally, Bourbon
France leads the League of Catholic States as Austria's number one rival. The Holy Lutheran Magisterium is loosely based off of Phillip Pullman's
"Magisterium" in the His Dark Materials series.

I really like this last map as well....

Just one picky thing....Why pick Kaunus as the Capital of the Lithuanian entity?

Historically, Vilnius has been the center of Lithuanian culture....Kaunas was the capital during the inter-war period cause Polish freebooters seized Vilnius and the League of Nations were wimps and couldn't force the return to Lithuania...

You're fine. Actually your's is the closest one thus far the to one I'm making, I won't be entering it of course, but you chose the same ideology clash and even a similar color pattern.

Thats right, quit getting 4-5 votes for each contest :p (though we've only had two before)

Is mine ok? Didn't see any comments for it.

Honestly, I wrote those capitals veeeeeeerrry late last night. It was between Kaunas and Riga, but you're right - Vilnius would make more sense. Just imagine it's Vilnius.

So, not only did the Kingdom of Lithuania emigrate somewhere else (Ireland, perhaps - this is the modern day tendency), but they also took their capital city with them? W00t :D:D:D

But it is a nice map overall :)

Probably should have mentioned war with Catholic Poland pushed them northward? That sounds feasible, right? Geographically speaking that would make the capital definitely Riga. :)
