A different cold war? The results of one man not taking his medicine.

ah, the old, "no Hitler, no WWII" myth.

It would be nice if it were true, alas, it ain't.

German rearmament was beginning before Corporal Schicklegruber stumbled into office. You might not get a genocidal fascist Germany in WWII, but you still get Germany in WWII. And even without the Nazis, you still get a very nasty Germany. Just ask the people from WWI: Belgians shot and killed, deported to work in armaments factories, dead on the 240km electric fence, Slavs doing forced labour digging trenchlines in the east... remember, WWI. I. Not II.

The Germans were ambitious. The whole myth of blaming everythjing on Hitler came about from Speer and all the Generals.

"We didn't want the war and if we were going to fight it we wouldn't have done that genocide stuff and when we won it was because we were geniuses and when we lost it was because Adolf was an idiot and anyway we didn't want to go to war anyway except for that nasty Versailles Treaty but apart from that but anyway it's all Hitler's fault. Really."

No.
