Another air force and air piracy related poster from my Sparrow Avengers universe. This time, a morale-boosting (well, more like fervour-against-pirates-boosting) poster from the Košice City State. The poster became popular and more frequently used during the second half of the 1930s, when air pirate incursions into the city's airspace, often followed by hit-and-run attacks and bombing raids, greatly intensified.
Much like the previously seen
posters warning about pirate zeppelins, this one is also bilingual - the text being in Slovak and Hungarian, to be exact. (There's also a version in German and Yiddish.) However, while the Slovak used in the KCS for governmental purposes is more or less standardized Slovak, some idiosyncrasies and maneurisms from the local form of the East Slovak dialect have crept into the writing (e.g. the lack of acute accent marks in words, some common words having a clearly dialect or colloquial bend to them, etc.).
Translation :
"
Enough's enough !!!
The air pirates have inflicted harm upon Košice for far too long !!!
The bandits will pay for this !
The time for retribution has come !!!"
