I must have missed something. How did the Chinese so easily cross the Himalaya Plateau to invade India?

Because terrain and supply tend not to get worked into map games, nor the astronomical cost for nations to build the infrastructure in a rapid manner. "Dilettantes study tactics, amateurs study strategy, professionals study logistics." - I forget the source

Just a general observation on these types of things. Continue Ephraim et al.!

- Cuba falls to USMC forces, Fidel & Raul Castro are imprisoned until a treason trial can begin
- The forces of the USSR and NATO fight in the battle of the border, 300 miles of sheer bloody Anarchy is fought over as NATO defends relentlessly. Famously the Black Watch of the UK are almost annihalated defending Luxemburg. The battle continues into week 5.
- The Low Countries fall to the Soviet advance
- Rome falls and the Vatican is set alight by the advancing Soviets. Pope John Paul II disappears outside St Peter's Basilica, facing the oncoming Soviet tanks
- Soviet forces push into Southern France
- More of Norway falls to the Soviets as their advance into Scandanavia looks unstoppable
- Athens is taken and the Greek government flees to Crete, the Greek Communists are given power as a puppet state forms on the mainland
- Angola and Mozambique surrender to South Africa, who continue military occupation
- With the fall of the ROK, Korea is unifed under Pyongyang
- The PLA seize all Bangladesh and move further into India, however the Indian army rallies eventually and puts up a stubborn defence, inflicting masses of casualties upon the Chinese

If the Pope is dead and the Vatican is burned, expect all of Latin America to send at least some support. Also, again, this is February: General Winter can work against the Russians just as much as it can work with them.

Apparently they used human wave tactics to make a neat, traversable bridge of corpses along the Plateau like a sort of cosily dead path. Something to do with the fact they have so many people.

Ahh, makes sense now.
Kiat does good map series, my personal favourite being Reverse Axis in ASB.

I sort of hit a snag in the Reverse Series. #3 was a flop, and the Axis of Worldwar is kind of hard to write for. Guess I'll have to try Reverse France or Reverse Stalin or something

I know, I wasn't claiming the invention of map series, just that my particular map series sparked off this new round of "country gets sent back in time and conquers" maps.

And I remember that good WWIII no-nukes one that Kiat did.

:D I'm remembered for something positive. If I had a diary, I would certainly write this day down.

The Pope can't die! Jesus has his back, and I tell you, he's real good to have next to you in a fight.

I'd rather have a trained bodyguard than a guy who wanted people to turn the other cheek and let their attackers slap them again.

I think that saying has to do with those whom were beneath you, you backhanded. So if they turned the other cheek, then when they were struck again, it would be as equals. Or something like that. Being a Pope myself, I know these sorts of things.

As for bodyguards; it was either Jesus has his back or something about Jesus will save him. Or, if you really want to go off the deep end, just send Jesus to some of them temples way back East so he can learn Kung Fu.

Depends on what Jesus you are talking about: Greek Orthodox Jesus Pantocrator is kind of scary,
Meister_von_Daphni_002.jpg

and he's the guy who will be sending folks off to heaven or hell at the last judgement. Jesus post-death is a much more badass guy than pre-death Jesus: there's a bit in Dante's Inferno where they show him the still smashed Gates of Dis which Jesus tore down when he stormed Hell...

Hokay: here's another old Soc.History.What-if inspired map, from an old Nicoll scenario. Better Anglo-German and worse Anglo-French relations post 1870 lead to a *Fashoda war with Germany and Britain on the same side: the longer term results are a British-German-Japanese-Austrian alliance fighting a WWII* in which the US, France and Russia are on the other side: thanks to the US duplicating the German atom bomb before the Europeans were able to ramp up to mass production and delivery, the US managed to pull off a partial win, but France and Russia went down hard. The German effort to install a puppet regime in Russia did not go well, and eventually the Russian Workers and Peasants Socialist Union (by 1995 "ramped down" to the Social Republic) was recognized by the US. The next few decades saw the US backing independence and anti-Colonial movements all over.

By 1995, the colonialist Alliance For Order and Progress is on the rocks. The British have lost India, and the Japanese have pulled out of China, although they are still working hard to keep the place divided. The Germans have let most of their colonial empire achieve at least mostly self-government, and the new socialist-dominated German parliament has made it clear they are not at all interested in spending taxpayer Marks on propping up British "feudal" arrangements in Africa and elsewhere. (Now Very Federal Austria, Germany's Boy Sidekick, in this case is happy to follow the German lead). Only Japan is determined to hold onto its remaining posessions, and even in Genteel-Fascist Britain there is some doubt as to the sustainability of most of the Empire.

Minor details: German Tanganyka is a German "Rhodesia", which has switched its loyalties from Berlin to London after the socialists expressed a certain hostility to the local methods of White Man's Burdening. Central Asia is rather more secular and russified than OTL. The US is rather "leftier" than OTL given it's self-identification as an anti-colonial power, and has a larger African, Asian, etc. immigrant minority. Manchurian indepdence movements are currently divided between "join China" and "strike out on out own, China is a mess for the forseeable future" factions.
