    IIRC, the Type 42 Batch 3s weren't stretched so much as they were using the original design, rather than the cut down version that the first two batches were.

    Given the occasional idea of having Britain and France jointly develop nuclear submarines, what about including Italy in the mix? In the late 1950s, Italy was looking at building an SSN and SSBN based on the USN Skipjack-class. They were also apparently developing their own SLBM as well.
