Flag Thread III

Here's a flag panel for a world I've been working on. Halichina is OTL's Galicia, with a different way of writing the Ukrainian romanisation. Tsien is the romanisation of the Yiddish equivalent of Zion, and occupies OTL's East Prussia. I'll try to post the non-communist counterpart sometime later today.

Very good.

Why does the WG flag have a more Scandinavian-style design ?

And South Greece is basically the surviving Greek monarchy in divided Korea situation, right ?

The scandanavian-style German flag was OTL proposed after WW2 by the conservative parties of the time, based in part on a flag proposal created by members of the German Resistance.

South Greece is significantly less economically successful than South Korea, but otherwise the analogy is good - including many years of dictatorial rule. There is a treaty of sorts ending the war, which manages to avoid labelling either Greek state as more legitimate than the other. It's a touchy subject ITTL, along with the divided Germany, divided Austria, divided Korea, divided Japan, divided China and so on and so forth. There's a school of study relating to states of shared legitimacy IITL's international politics academia.

Ooh, very cool. Is the flame inside the star meant to look like the word "Allah" in Arabic?

Not really, well it wasn't intentional. It's supposed to evoke the country's ancient heritage as a center for Zoroastrian worship and the flames being a special symbol of that religion. The Azeris, while Muslim and Turkic, still look fondly to their pre-Islamic past with much pride.

Sounds downright fascinating. :)
