Chile the target of Argentine aggression in ‘78: Effects on international views of Pinochet?

Let’s say that Argentina decides to move forward with its planned invasion of Chile in 1978.

With Chile now the defender in a war of aggression, how are international attitudes towards the Pinochet regime impacted?

If Chile is able to emerge victorious from the conflict, how is the longevity of the Pinochet regime impacted? I assume that a Chilean defeat would mean the end of the road for Pinochet.

Yes, but what will the Argentinian junta want him replaced with, an appeasing and supine right-wing military dictator rather than an ultra-patriotic one?

The only people who would sympathise with Pinochet would be the people who gave him the time of day to start with. There would be no geopolitical significance to the conflict, so unlike Iraq-Iran no-one would have any need to take sides.
