Saving Private Sealion

Suppose that during the pre-production of Saving Private Ryan, a few ideas were changed for whatever reasons and the focus of the film was changed to an alternate history invasion of Britain, with a similar tone and same scale as the OTL film, complete with Spielberg directing. With such a big-budget AH production with a bigname director, how does this impact the relevance of AH in popular culture and what will spin out of this?

Would he make it a successful invasion?

Not sure--I imagine that the outcome could be left ambigious, as it would focus on a small group of grunts like the OTL film, or with a suggestion that it ended in favor of the Allies with the ending showing a war memorial, perhaps.

So basically a combination of Saving Private Ryan and Red Dawn, huh? Sadly I know I would be at the movies opening day to see it.

So would this be the story of the massacre of German troops on the beaches, or the story of a US invasion to liberate Britain?

Likely the latter. More chance to show the brave GIs do their thing for freedom.

I'd like to watch that, lol. Did watch recently "The 11th Hour" which was great apart from an assumption that the USA won WW2 on its own... I'd want to see the USSR getting its fair value, and China too, in any such film, and of course the British Resistance!

So to summarize:

After the Soviets liberate Britain from the Nazi occupation, Viet-Min commandos scale the White Cliffs of Dover to destroy the gun turrets of the Bismark which were given to Britain by the US after the ship was interred. Meanwhile US Marines and paratroops based in Iceland invade Scotland, where they must defuse a captured US nuclear bomb before its detonation by Islamic terrorists triggers WWIII?

You've forgot to mention the Chinese and North Korea.
Also, a bit of time-travel would be nice

Einstein travels back in time to kill Hitler.
This, as we all know backfires.
So he travels back in time again and prevents himself from doing that. Then he travels back further in time an assembles Hannibal, Frederik the Great, Napoleon, Doc Holiday and Mungo Park to battle Hitler.

Why does he need the others if he's got Doc Holiday?

"I've got two Thompsons... one for each of you..."
