This is going to be a long one...
In the year 2071 advancements in the field of astronautics created a new vision of future of mankind. Suddenly travelling the entire Solar System in less than half a year turned fact from fiction. New opportunities have opened. A plan to build a Dyson Network was considered, and work begun in 2074. The plan involved using replicating robots to mine Mercury for materials to build the Dyson Network. However it quickly became clear that whoever got their hands on Mercury first, would be the owner of the Dyson Network. Every powerful nation made efforts to ensure even the slight advantage over it's competitors. However by the late 2070's the USA had the upper hand. It had colonies on Titan, Mars, Venus and Io, while the EU and China only had one colony each. Another advantage is that the USA did not establish colonies with an emphasis on scientific research, but rather industrial colonies. The colonies were as follows:
  1. Mars. Sector 1-USEPIC(US Extraplanetar Industrial Complex): Sector 1 was the first colony, and was the most succesful. It was an industry that focused on siderurgy. Since Mars was full of iron, resources were plentyful. Sector 1 was resposible for creating smart alloys, which would be later procesed in replicating robots.
  2. Venus. Sector 2-USEPIC: Sector 2 was the least succesful mission. It was planned to be a floating city, in the skies of Venus, to avoid extreme temperatures and pressures. However, a leak in the floaters leaked the ar that kept it afloat. Thus, it crashed on the surface. This disaster later influenced the revolt of Sector 4.
  3. Io. Sector 3-USEPIC: This was also a succesful mission. Sector 3 was the only one to have a scientific approach.
  4. Titan. Sector 4-USEPIC: This is the sector that was resposible for fabricating and shipping fuel cells to the replicating robots. It was the largest colony and the most advanced one, having over 500,000 residents.
In 2082 an event called The Money Shortage hit the entire world. It was a economical crysis that was so dramatic, it affected every nation on Earth and beyond. On 11th October 2082, the last drop of fossil fuel had been collected. Although powerful nations had switched to nuclear power much earlier, they were affected indirectly from the collapse of poorer nations that were still using fossil fuels. In January 2083, Brazil, Venezuela and Mexico declare war on the USA. The USA won quickly, avoiding a potential nuclear war, but this war sparked other wars. 2083-Pakistan attacks India, India wins; 2085-Vietnam annexes Laos and Myanmar; 2086-China Attacks and seizes control over northern India. With so many wars popping up, USA, Britain,EU , Russia and Japan sign an agreement stating that any nation that is ever attacked, should be imediatly helped by them. Which happened shortly after. China invaded Japan, and it resulted in a catastrophic war. Nuclear weapons were used, but not on a full scale. The world was not over though. This left the extraplanetar colonies isolated.
Sector 4 would then proclaim itself independent. It was established that it would carry on it's american ideals and legacy and that it would only be fair to become a democracy. Two parties would become proeminent in the first row of ellection of the first nation outside Earth: The Conservative Party and Independed Worker's Party.
THe Conservative Party sought to preserve the american ideals, and were in many ways identical to liberals. The Worker's Party was on the other hand a socialist party, seeking to form a new nation. The Worker's Party won, and the first president became Henry Mulligan. Henry Mulligan was however shot only 12 hours after and the vice president, Thomas Folling became the president. While Mulligan would've made a free socialist state, Folling believed in an authoritharian, communist regime, and ruled until 2092.
In 2092 the USA, now name the Reformed American Commonwealth, staged a coup d'etat in Sector 4. Folling was caught, executed without a trial on 23rd May 2092. Sector 4 became the 51st American State and was turned into a democracy.

Now, The Flags:
Independent Worker's Party of Sector 4-USEPIC. 2089.
Titan2.png

The gold big circle in the center is Saturn, and smaller one Titan.
Socialist Sector 4. 2089-2092.
Titan.png

The white "stuff" is Saturn and it's rings, while Titan is the yellow circle, and the Red Star stands for Communism.
State of Sector 4.2092-onwards.
Titan 3.png

The yellow stripe is Titan, and the blue one is Earth. The black stripe represents the space between while the yellow star in the white star represents Sector 4 being a part of the RAC, and the white star is on blue as the RAC is on Earth.

French Guiana - with more style. The current proposed flag is a bi-colour field, split corner to corner (canton, down to lower fly) green, above yellow with a small red star as the charge. Come on, not good enough!
Low and behold - large red star (now in French red) with white fimbriation. Canton now in French blue for the coastal position and the night sky into which the spaceport at Koru fire the ESA rockets. White fimbriation splits the green and yellow and represents the bright horizon the people should aspire for.

"The flag is a rectangle with eleven stripes of yellow-green, light green, pale orange, bright scarlet, blue-green, sky blue, pale gold, grey, light grey, red-violet, and forest green. The emblem is a drum and a knot of some sort in relief."

eww, that color arrangement makes my eyes hurt without even having to look at it.
granted, not all of them are good but some are. like this "The flag is a rectangle with three vertical stripes of dark green, dark red and burnt orange. There is no emblem." and "The flag is a rectangle with a solid dark gold background and a triangle of grey-blue on the left. There is no emblem." those aren't the best but still.

Sssssso. I Have A Challenge For You Dudes.

This Is The Berber Flag. The Stripes Symbolise The Origin Of The Berbers.
Blue: The Berbers Who Live By The Sea.
Green: The Berbers Who Live In The Mountains.
Yellow: The Berbers Who Live In The Dessert.

The Symbol In The Middle (ⵣ) Symbolizes The Human Yearning For Freedom. So, I'd Like A Berberist Flag, For A Berber State Because I Don't Really Like This One Tbh.

(Ps: I Know That There Is A Thread For This, But It's Dead. No One Really Looks At It.)

Flag of a hypothetical Federation of the Sahel. Not done with plausibility as a main priority.

In 1975, istead of just the ECOWAS, smaller ITTL, a SACOM or Sahelian Community was created, with capital in Nouakchott. The original members were the OTL G-5 of the Sahel -Mauritania, Mali, Upper Volta, Niger and Chad, plus Senegal (later Senegambia). It promoted economic integration, a joint justice tribunal, a customs and monetary union, a single voice as a regional group and joint infrastructures such as the Trans-Sahelian highway. The Second Sudanese Civil War was even worse, as there were Northern, Pan-Sahelian factions, who became increasingly popular as people thought only joining a cooperation and developement network could heal the scars of war. South Sudan split by the mid 80's and the north joined SACOM. By some of its members' request, wary of each other's influence over the rest, a transnational parliament with a rotating presidency was set up. Due to the autocratic nature of most member states, the method of selecting the representatives initially varied in each country. SACOM-integrated Eritrea was a result of the union intervening in the Ethiopian Civil War. By the early 90's SACOM had unified its armies, and by the late 90's it had adopted the Sahelian Franc as a single currency. By the late 2000's most member states were democracies, if very dysfunctional ones, and the SACOM parliament had become an entrenched institution which actively promoted Pan-Sahelianism out of both idealism and interest. It finally agreed on a unification referendum in which, in a slightly dubious fashion, the YES won in a landslide.

The stripes represent, in their respective locations, the landscapes of the geographical area: red for the Sahara sands, orange for the prevalent Earth tones of the Sahel proper, green for the Savannah grasslands. The yellow color in the stars and crescent represents spiritual light and common wealth, plus joined to green and red speaks of Panafricanism. The crescent has a triple meaning: spiritual brotherhood, a recognition of Islam as the majority religion of the federation, and a recognition of Mauritania as the instigator of the Federation. The eight starts represent the eight states of the federation: Mauritania, Senegambia, Upper Volta, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan and Eritrea. Though Nouakchott is its legislative and official capital, as it houses the Federal Parliament, its main cities are Dakar, Khartoum and Bamako. The official languages of the Federation are English and French.

Nice but I would recommend shifting the symbols up a fraction as the stars are too level with the edges of the red stripe

Did a revise of the Cook Islands flag a few days ago and just noted that the Prime Minister, Henry Puna, is interested to change the name of the island group to Avaiki, seek independence and update the flag. If that's the case then the 15 stars in a ring can surely be bettered. I say find the best tattooist on islands and draw an uncomplicated turtle. Studied a few photos of the beach scenes and pulled correspondent colours of the shoreline sea colour (130-181-185) and deep sky blue (0-85-152) mixed with deeper sea blue/green (18-91-143) to get 9-88-143. How cool are these two together with the dynamic white quadrilateral?

Did a revise of Cyprus Flag. Too much white on the current version thus I've moved it about, thrown away an olive branch and smoothed the coastline ...
