A county of England. The old Kingdom of Nordhymbralond consisted of everything north of the river Humber (hence the name) but the modern county consists only of “English Northumberland”, the northern remnant that managed to free itself from Viking rule in the late 800s. Culturally grouped together with County Durham as the North-East, a region known for its incomprehensible accents, hard men with resistance to cold, and enmity with the Scots.
