**UK Gold**: Similarly, satellite network UK Gold (also UK Drama and other channels) changed its name to 'UKTV Gold', but everyone still uses the old name. It was recently changed again to the face-palmingly stupid 'G.O.L.D.', and that's without telling you what the inane acronym stands for. On the other hand, it did pull off a successful rebranding of UK Gold 2 (via UKTV G2) to "Dave", an idea which everyone seems to like - it is probably the most referenced satellite TV channel name in mainstream newspapers and TV. | **UK Gold**: Similarly, satellite network UK Gold (also UK Drama and other channels) changed its name to 'UKTV Gold', but everyone still uses the old name. **[[Thande]]'s local**: A bit of a niche example, I suppose...but Thande's local pub has, over a period of about ten years, gone from being the Tired Man to the Edenthorpe Village Inn to the Toby Carvery. In summary: when it was called the Tired Man, everyone called it the New Pub. When it was called the Village Inn, everyone called it the Tired Man. Then when it changed to being the Toby Carvery, everyone started calling it the Village Inn. They won't start calling it the Toby Carvery until it changes its name yet again. | |
