Historically composed of three major lands : Slavonia, Croatia and Dalmatia. Former part of the Kingdom of Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, of a nasty Nazi-approved and Ustasha-led state and of Tito's Yugoslavia. Nowadays an independent republic. After the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s, it started rebuilding its economy, especially the well-developed tourism industry in Dalmatia. A local naval power (of sorts) in the Adriatic (not too hard, since it owns most of the eastern coastline of said sea).
