Nowadays an independent republic. After the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s, it started rebuilding its economy, especially the well-developed tourism industry in Dalmatia. A local naval power of sorts in the Adriatic (not too hard, since it owns most of the eastern coastline of said sea).
