WI: Earlier purchase of Rootes & Simca by Chrysler Motor in 1920's? Effects on both brands?

Unlike it's larger rivals, Chrysler was late to the game in setting up a European arm and it's design and manufacturing facilities. Not until the late 50's and early 60's did Chrysler buy SIMCA of France and Rootes Group of the UK.

What if Chrysler set up a European arm around the same time as both Ford and GM in the 1900's?
How would this arm develop over the next few decades?
Would it perform the same as its Ford and Opel/Vauxhall (GM) rivals?
Would there be a fair chance that this arm would last until the 2000's at least?

Much obliged!
