The Novidunine Empire – A New Roman Empire

Chapter 1
The Visigoths would see that the Franks would be a threat to them if they had no buffer between them and decided that they would support Syagrius rather than letting him fight himself against the Franks and knowing that the Alans would also be defeated by the Franks, they would let that the Gallo Romans rule Northern Gaul and give them their aid.

Battle of Novidumum - Freepedia

The Battle of Novidunum was fought in 486 between Frankish forces under Clovis I and the Gallo-Roman domain of Novidunum under Syagrius. The battle was a victory for the Syagrius and the continuity of the Gallo Roman domain of Novidunum

In the final collapse of the Western Roman Empire between 476 and 480, Syagrius was the only remaining representative of Roman rule in the area between the Loire and the Somme. Syagrius was the son of Aegidius, the last Roman magister militum per Gallias; he preserved his father's rump state, the Domain of Novidunum, between the Somme and the Loire, calling himself dux.

The central location of Novidunum in northern Gaul and its largely intact infrastructure allowed a level of stability in the years of the Migration Period, but also made the area tempting for their Frankish neighbours to the north-east. The realm of Syagrius was of almost the same size as the Frankish area, though the Franks were divided into small kingdoms, and, on the right bank of the Rhine, little touched by Roman culture.

Nevertheless, Clovis I managed to assemble enough Franks to confront Syagrius's forces. Clovis issued a challenge to Syagrius naming the time and place of the battle. Gregory of Tours mentions that one Chararic had brought his forces to the battlefield but then stood aloof, hoping to ally with the winner but the Visigoths have given Syagrius more troops to fight against the Franks.

The ensuing battle was a decisive victory for Syagrius and destroyed the Franks for good.

After the battle, Chararic would side with Syagrius, however, after the battle the Frankish realm would ruled by the Saxons who would overrun the Franks after the loss of Clovis and the domain of the Romans led by Syagrius in the north would known by the outsiders as the Novidunine Empire.

After his victory, Syagrius would plan his conquest of Burgundy and the Capital of the Gallia Lugudunum and supported the Visigothic conquest of the Burgundian Kingdom between the Visigoths and the Novidunine Empire and respect the fact that Narbonensis, the former Burgundian Kingdom and majority of Aquitania would be under the Visigoths instead who he feels would slowly Romanize due to their Roman citizenry something that he was not wrong and letting Gallia Belgica be ruled by the Saxons and he would conquer Armorica on early 500s which is settled by immigrants from Britain after his win against the Franks, the Saxons would be later pushed east to the Rhine after his son reconquered Roman Britain.

Syagrius would feel sad about that the Byzantine Empire had already abandoned him but he would choose to focus on what matters to him instead.

Chapter 2
On 500, Syagrius and Alaric II would make sign the treaty of Novidonum or treaty of Novidon as the city is now known as Novidon, the treaty of Novidonum would cede the lands south of Loire to the Visigoths giving the Visigoths rule of the area south of Loire and during that time Alaric II had already conquered the Burgundians in 490 with Novidonian help causing the Visigoths to be more powerful as time goes by and the Kingdom of the Visigoths would be more Roman as years pass by and Syagrius would acknowledge that the Visigoths have turned to be more Roman due to them ruling a more Roman people in the south and the Visigothic Empire would adopt a more meditereanean culture from its Roman people as the Visigothic Empire, the Visigothic Empire would later crumble into the Kingdom of Aquitainia and Kingdom of Spain in the coming centuries.

Syagrius’ son Constantine III who would reconquer the lands west of Rhine and Britain and both Syagrius and Constantine would be known as the Roman Emperor of the West after the Ostrogothic sack of Rome.

Chapter 3
Constantine III would start his reign on 510 on the death of his father Syagrius who had already secured his realm and peace with the Visigoths and the conquest of the Breton principalities on the west and Constantine III would plan his conquest of Britain and he would bring in Novidunian and some of the troops from Armorica that his father has conquered.

On his landing in Britain he would find that the Britons are divided and parts of Britain has been conquered by the Angles and also there are the Britons who are never romanized and he would rally the remaining Romano-Britons on his his side and conquer the lands where the Romano Britons lived and would reestablish order on the Subroman Britain and would reconquer the former Roman Britain up until Eboracum with the help of the Visigoths in the South.

The Brito-Roman, Visigothic and Novidunian troops would slaughter Saxon nobles on the island, however the Saxon population would end up being absorbed by the new Novidunian Roman Empire giving the Novidunian language some Germanic influence prior to its reconquest of Gallia Belgica.

On 526, when his wars on Britain was finished, Constantine III would consider the Saxons as an enemy due to his encounter with them on Britain he would fight with them and expel them to the east of the Rhine.
