?What if Napoleon didn't take the Grand Armee into Russia, [or Balkans/ Turkey]?
?Could whe have Napoleon spend 1812 rebuilding and preparing?
?What effect would Not losing 1/2 of the Army [and all those Veterans] during a retreat from Moscow, have on the French Empire?.

Napoleon couldn't have just ignored Russia. Tsar Alexander was using the period of peace between them to build up Russia's strength. The longer Napoleon delayed, the stronger Russia became. Ignoring Russia for too long would probably have resulted in Alexander invading the Grand Duchy of Warsaw while Napoleon was in Spain and renewing the alliance with Prussia.
The invasion might have been delayed however, if Alexander had just agreed to peace again.
