French keep Canada and the North-West Teritories

I think it would be by a long shot since they were trounced during the Seven Years War. The cascade effect would be that there would - most than likely - no American Revolution. Its possible that there would be no French Revolution without the American Revolution, but one can think that French foreign affairs may spark some other war that would lead to revolts in Paris.

However, the French simply don't have the population base in Canada/Quebec to offset the eventual population explosion in the British colonies. The vast long border of the Ohio River Valley and the Mississippi River Valley would be a constant source of friction between France and Britain. Any outbreak of war between London and Paris would immediately see campaigns into the Ohio Valley and against Montreal and New Orleans.

Seems like France only cared for its instant payoff colonies, rather than investing in, and defending its continental colonies, that might have turned into markets. This would of course require that France develop some kind of finnished goods for raw materials kind of arrangement.

Seems like France before, say 1850, was almost indemically economically challenged, with only an occasional Minister that had a clue.

The title specfies the Northwestern Territories. Does that not include the territory gained by Great Britian in Queen Anne's War(1702-1714)? The Treaty of Ultretch gave Britain the Hudson Bay region which is needed to maintain contact with the Northwest. Say France keeps its hegomony here, then we'll possibly see a more French North America...
