Challenge: Stephen Colbert Popular Entertainer in ATL Iran

Your challenge is to have Stephen Colbert become a popular satirist based in a democratic Iran with a POD of anywhere between 1950 to 2013. Bonus points if Colbert is raised for part of his childhood in Iran.

A revolution in Iran in the 1960s creates a democratic government, and Stephen Colbert's family moves to Iran, where Stephen Colbert grows up to become a popular entertainer.

The question is how to cause the revolution. It has to be in the 60s to avoid butterflying away Colbert's birth, but have him spend his childhood there.
