Attributed Arms

Attributed arms are coats of arms which have been essentially made up and assigned to legendary or historical figures who lived before the rules of heraldry were formalised. This thread is for any forummers who wish to try their hand at this fine and noble practice.

I'll lead off with a set of arms for King Arthur. The three crowns on the blue background were often attributed to Arthur in mediaeval times. The red dragon has long been a symbol of the Britons, thanks to a prophetic vision during King Vortigern's day: a red dragon was fighting with a while dragon, until at length the former gained victory and drove its opponent away. This was interpreted as a good omen, the red dragon representing the Britons, the white one their Saxon enemies. The eagle represents Arthur's claim to the Roman Empire. The motto means "With honour and piety". The Order of the Garter is completely spurious, but I figured that it would be quite in-character for a mediaeval King to try and grab a slice of Arthurian glory by claiming that the Order was actually a revival of one started by Arthur.
