Getting close to 90. The centenarians are generally pretty healthy since they're the upper crust of society, so they can keep chugging well into their 120s. Benjamin G. Thurman, who was first elected when he was in 96, is quite healthy and should live out for a few more terms.
It's been a long-term project that Benjamin G. Thurman began in the 2070s when he was only legal counsel to the AFL-CIO. Strong and heavy unionization amongst blue collar workers (coupled with proper social engineering so union workers want to settle), along with support with frontier farmers for equal prices and protection from corporate interests, public work jobs handed out to local machines, social safety net for minorities, strong outreach to orcs and a devil's bargain with the Minutemen have finally come together as Thurman has orchestrated a powerful majority in the Outer System.

Workers are great and so are unions, but socialism itself is generally frowned upon. At least the rhetoric and symbolism of it.
They don't hate each other but their not BFFs either. That said, the U.S. tends to be more friendly to countries in the former Anglosphere. There's significant American tourism to the British Isles, and there's been a few noted Welsh explorers and adventurers who did their exploring and adventuring under the Stars and Stripes. The Great Lodges of the Light of Uzume are a Columbianist denomination found on Iapetus, particularly within the Commonwealth of Cassini. It was founded in 2124 with the merger of the Temple of the Holy Light and the Lodges of the Dying Light. The angel Uzume is the primary angel of worship within the denomination, who is often represented as a kimono-wearing kitsune. Given his young age he had to wait until his 30th birthday to finally take office. He was re-elected in 1892 and retired from the Senate in 1898.
Cut to a Reed Presidency in 1900, public opinion forces a Spanish American War as in OTL, Roosevelt's Rough Riders preform very similarly. For his actions in the War, and the support Reed got in becoming President, Roosevelt is given the Secretaryship of the Navy and later of State.
Then Reed's VP dies, and so does Reed himself, leaving Roosevelt as an acting-President in the sense he has no real power and he'll be replaced soon enough as both parties have their own nominations.
He returns under President Johnson as a Secretary of State again, trying to parlay himself as the real power behind the throne with all the things going on in the world: WWI, Japan War, etc. While he does good in that capacity, and is elected President in 1920, he's slowly getting out of touch with the world, and most importantly the economy, and is beaten by a Labor-friendly New Yorker by the name of Wagner.
It's an extremely rough idea to say the least. EDIT: I also put Bryan as his own Sec of State. That's a big mistake.

What is the capital of Dakota in this time line? Yankton? Bismark? Or somewhere else? How did they bridge the divide between the northern and southern factions? And how did someone from west river get elected? Much less someone with no connections to the local elite or major population centers? Also many of the earlier Dakota statehood attempts put the border further east as the east river establishment didn't really want to be associated with the wild frontier mining camps and this would mean the Roosevelt ranch would not be included in the new state. ...As a South Dakotan who knows a fair deal about my state's history I see a couple of things you are going to need to figure out.

Just as a general question, what's Columbianist view on non-Americans? I recall reading in "The Wanderer", that preacher who was giving that sermon to the centaurs said that Americans shouldn't trust non-Americans.
Columbianism is very high on American exceptionalism and nationalism. There is a distrust of foreigners, though most sects are somewhat welcoming of immigrants. Most xenophobia is directed at Communist and NAL nations, so Russia, Brazil, Arabia, India.
Yes. The American body and spirit is superior. But anyone can become American if they try hard enough.
I should state now that I'm not very well versed in Dakotan territorial politics, so here is my attempt to provide a ex post facto justification:
With a POD in 1884 the capital is still Bismarck. The Dakota's were shoved in as a state before a Democratic majority could rebuff them, statehood coming in 1886 after all is said and done. With the edges of the Dakotas being so far from each other, the process of electing a Senator was marred by delays over who. Eventually the split Dakota Legislature worked out a deal and appointed 1 man from each side of the state, Roosevelt being the Badlands candidate.
If there's something egregious, or just unsalvageable about this, feel free to tell me. If I could create some new states out of the remaining Western territories that'd be cool.
