Repost of my MoF12 map.

Following WWIII (2025-2028), the majority of the worlds countries begin to form megacountries. Over the rest of the century, peace is felt all over the globe, for the most part. Cold War tensions do brew from time to time.

The map depicts the breakup of one megacountry, the Atlantic Union. While still at its territorial height in 2095, it had long ago been overshadowed by its competitors.

It seems that a lot of Germans sheep-herders replaced Polish highlanders in Podhale. :D

A longer and more vigorous period of "internal colonization" favored at different times by the Holy Roman Emperors, in particular Josef II who wanted to break Hungary's opposition to his reforms. His government vigorously enforced the policy of "German only" in school, government, commerce, and the army. Josef II's reign lasted until 1816; some of his policies (language laws) were retained by the Court until 1876.

I made this for an idea I had for an ISOT story, but I'm not sure when or if I'll get around to doing it.

On June 21st the world population is tunned as an aurora appears in many places around the world, of course what's even more shocking
is what happens next as contact with various parts of the globe, suddely drop out of contact, over the following 24 hours it would be
revealed that 17 areas of the world, ranging in size from the small 'Balkan zone' to the massive 'Oceanesia zone' had ben replaced with
untouched lands.

Chaos broke out across the global as the world economy nearly collapsed from the shock alone and many of the most affected countries
fell into anarchy or revolution as a result of major demographic shifts or collapses of their own economies.

By the beginning of 2016 things had calmed down somewhat, and the world began seriosuly looking at the issue of the 'new lands',
especially those in places where their was either no longer a country to claim territory or in which their was to little left to affectively
function.

I see. I only meant that Podhale region is mostly mountainous and rural - probably not too appealing place for German settlers.

The Treaty of Constanza is a "San Stefano"-like, based on a cooperation between the kaiser/koëning and the tsar

This... just wouldnt work as you envision it. Theres no way existing German settlement areas would simply organically expand. After all, there are already people there. If you want a A-H with larger German population the best bet would be Germanified cities, and Germanification roughly correspondending to population density (well, outside Hungary, anyways). This is what happened IOTL for a while, too: For a time, Czech was only spoken in the most backwood villages, so to say, a peasant language - before it made a spectacular revival. Avoiding such national revivals is difficult, but in that case cities and their surroundings would be German most likely.

But the Germans just coming down from the Sudeten Mountains increasingly narrowing the "Czech Corridor", that doesnt work like that ;) The same goes for Slovenia, though of course Maribor (the second largest city) already was German in majority... and in Hungary simply enlarging existing settlement areas doesntwork, either, but also Germanifiying cities would be difficult here... and how did the Hungarians manage to get that corridor to the Szeklerland?

I see. I only meant that Podhale region is mostly mountainous and rural - probably not too appealing place for German settlers.
Well, its not unheard of that Germans also settled regions as small farmers and even farmhands, (instead of the usual burghers, miners or great farmers), like in Wolhynia. But compared to the High Tatra and surroundings Wolhynia is of course actually very hospitable, so I largely agree. As part of a large settlement programm in any case it makes few sense. Also, funnily it seems to ignore some Carpathian German settlement areas that did exist IOTL...

Heh, I noticed the Podhale too.

I doubt it really could accommodate that many more settlers in any case, and all those German bits imply extra settlers and thus population density.

@LSCatilina: I like...lots of effort, eh?

Rumelia seems Slavic according to the map?

Oh dear... It appears a hardline B-Munroist regime has taken over in my mapmaking eye. Thought I'd be a slave to trends and try it this wonderful style of mapmaking. With deliberate details missed out to draw attention away from some implausibilities, I give you The World 1923. Of course, it wouldn't be very B_Munroist without a long explanation first.

At the end of the Great War the Central Powers sought a fast and easy way to consolidate their gains. This was different among them all. The Germans wanted to end a communist threat that they themselves started after a Bolshevik uprising in the Kingdom of Poland – a little too close to home – caused the deaths of some one hundred and sixty soldiers, and the burning of a pro-German village. The Austrians took what they wanted from Serbia and vassalised the remainder (as well as Montenegro and Rumania) and handed over some areas to Italy as per the Treaty of Venice (the agreement which saw the Italians join the Central Powers camp in 1916). The Italians themselves had occupied Albania for most of the war, and annexed it as a colony, much to the dismay of Austria-Hungary who wanted their own hegemony in the Balkans. The Turks seemed to turn away from Europe all together having joined the war late in 1918 when victory for the CPs seemed definite. They attacked British strongholds and ended up with a lot more territory than they could handle. A far-rightist movement has picked up here, hoping to remodel the Ottoman Empire as a federal and unitary republic, much like the extremely isolationist (outside the Western hemisphere, that is) United States of America.

As per the Treaty of Versailles (signed between the allies of Britain and France, and the Central Powers) Britain and France had to pay heavy indemnities to all powers involved. Britain’s was considerably more than France’s, because the British still held onto a lot of their territory and the Germans wanted to weaken them enough to take it later. France lost her entire colonial empire, and soon after the Germans evacuated Paris (1920 – crushing the Bolsheviks in Russia took priority over occupying France) a far-right regime led by Angelique Coletta (a woman; radical, isn’t it?) took over France. Similarly, but not quite the same, the new British Prime Minister (one Jacob Ramsey) took a very imperialist stance and hoped to centralise the empire into a trade union. Both Britain and France renewed their alliance (as both were run by far-right governments, France considerably more) as the Fascist Alliance. The aptly-named alliance soon enveloped Japan when the militancy that plagued OTL’s Japan in the 1920s-40s took over here as well. The more expansionist leaders in Japan sought revenge against Germany for taking back the city of Tsingtao and all the Pacific possessions they occupied in the war.

The Kaiser, having a sudden fear of anti-imperialist communists, spotted early the ‘Red Threat’ in China and offered the Chinese an alliance to rid them of the threat early on. The Japanese were in on this as well, as Germany promised them a treaty if the Sino-Bolsheviks were defeated (or as defeated as they could be with such stretched German resources) negotiating the territory they would occupy following the invasion of China. While this deal caused a rift in Japanese politics, they eventually agreed, deciding it would sate their expansionist needs until a later time. As a result of this operation, the communists were forced back into the Sinkiang province and quickly declared independence. Immediately they sought protection from the ‘winning-team’ in the new Russo-German war, the Bolsheviks, and became a satellite state of communist Russia, along with their neighbours, the Mongolians. As per previous agreements, the Japanese took Manchuria, and created a puppet empire out of it, ruled by a junior branch of the Imperial Family of Japan. They also annexed Hainan, making it an important military base.

As for colonial rearrangements, the Germans took over almost all of France’s colonial empire in Africa, creating two super-colonies (officially, Reichskolonie der Mitte Afrika and Reichskolonie des Westlichen Afrikas). They annexed very little of Britain’s territory, but the Ottomans expelled them from Arabia for, as far as they assumed, ever. The Italians took over Tunisia, Djibouti and the year following the war’s end they invaded and annexed Abyssinia.

In the Central Powers camp, a rift between the three main members (A-H, Germany and Italy) has formed because of these main reasons:

1) Germany’s obsession with the Bolsheviks isolated her from her allies,

2) Conflict over Balkan hegemony arose between Italy and A-H

and 3) The Italians aren’t taking what they have and want the Illyrian provinces.

With this going on, the Ottomans remained indifferent and continue a slow path to federalisation while holding onto their ‘temporary’ puppets in Southern Arabia. Additionally, Coletta’s regime in France looks hungrily on at some of the world’s remaining independent nations, particularly the kingdoms in Indochina. The British and French also see Italy’s entry into the war as entry on the ‘wrong’ side. They saw it as a stab in the back, and both want a hearty dose of revenge on the struggling kingdom. Both allies see the right-wing groups in Italy as potential allies, especially France. And while Japan looks at China with her mouth watering, Germany can do nothing but keep fighting the communists in Russia, something being secretly funded by the more extremist of France’s politicians.

So I had this idea earlier and I thought I'd do a map of it using the Munroist style.

Following the Franco-Prussian War France and the National Government's decision to meet outside of Paris the city was in chaos.
Out of this chaos formed what would be known as the Paris Commune.
The Commune ruled Paris with little incident for several months before the National Government sent in regular troops to remove the several
hundred cannons held by the 'Parisian Guard', however many of the soldiers, who's morale was already low from losing the war and distrusting
the government joined the Communes forces.

Within a month army units and regular citizens across the country (primarily in cities) had begun a massive rebellion.
In Spring of 1873 a massive army of soldiers and (armed) citizens estimated to be nearly a million people in size marched on Bordeaux,
overwhelming the remaining loyalist military forces their and seizing control of the government.

In 1875, after a year of negotiations, preparations (and executions) a new Constitution was promulgated and the Communal Republic of France
declared.
These events did not go unnoticed by the rest of Europe, who looked at France with either horror (the upper classes as out of power!?!),
admiration (if the French can do it, so can we! Down with the bourgeoisie!) or apathy (they're way over their, who cares what happens,
they are'nt bothering us), however, the powers of Europe chose not to intervene, especially when they had their own growing problems
and no one was interested in another war.

Over the remaining years of the 19th century the world went on, France under the guise of 'protecting native peoples from imperialists'
colonized much of Northern Africa, though actually did treat the natives very well and invested in its colonies.

By the beginning of the 20th century tensions in Europe were simmering as Empires were declining and the people were more and more
demanding freedom and labor rights.

In 1913 the Great War began and proceeded, more or less as per OTL.

In 1919 Russia was thrown into a (even worse than OTL) Civil War which would end with the declarations of independence of the Baltic states,
Ukraine and Kazakhstan and the establishment of the Socialist Federation of Russia.

In 1923 Italy was thrown into Civil War between the 'Conservatives', 'Progressives' and 'Traditionalists'.
In 1926 the French-backed 'Italian Federal Republic, comprised of the Northern half of the country was declared and came to an armistice
agreement with the 'Liberals' (cons merged with other groups).
It would not be until 1931 that the war would end with the Liberals successful and the Monarchy overthrown, establishing the Republic of Italy.
However, while both Italy's were Republics the IFR had no intention of re-unifying with the South, as they viewed them as little more than
'elites in different clothing'.

By the 1940's the world had entered a Four Way Cold War between the French-lead leftist 'Community of Nations', Russian-lead Marxist
'Union of Socialist Republics, Anglo-German-American-lead Alliance of Nations and the Japanese-lead Asian Co-operation Union.

Tensions would rise and fall over the decades, however apart from some proxy wars, revolutions and colonial rebellions the world did'nt see
any major wars.

The map shows the world in 2000.
The world is anywhere between 10-20 years ahead technologically, primarily in computer science, space technology and biotechnology.
The planet is also more populous with a total population of 7.2 billion people and growing.

Russia and its allies have gone the way of OTL China, reforming its economy, though the ones without them have been introducing more social
and political freedoms as well.

France and the CoN now practice anything between traditional Social Democracy and Market Socialism, with the idea of adopting 'liberal'
economic policies about as popular as instituting monarchy.
As a result the they tend to look down upon their one-time allies in the USR.

Japan and the ACU have long since become the most powerful in terms of economic power, though they still have trouble when it comes
to entering CoN markets.
The ACU nations reformed over the years with all now being democracies of one form or another. Racism and related problems were stamped
out in the 60's as the idea of Pan-Asianism was promoted.

The United Alliance has been in decline since the early 90's as many question it's usefulness, others grow weary of some of the Alliances other
members, particularly America's tendency to act more important than it is and a general sense of not truly having anything in common.

Buddhist slavic Germany.

But anyhoo, here's my entry for the latest map contest:

"WHAT ONCE WAS OURS...

... shall always be ours. Make a map showing the irredentist claims of a country in an AH scenario"

In this world, Napoleon and his descendants did much, much, better than OTL. Still, even the greatest of Empires will fall apart in time...
