"Like a playa' piano/ya on a roll.
Got sixteen keys/not an ounce of soul."

Sixteen Keys was MC mOS's (Marcus Parker) first release following his ejection from the Peachtree Gospel Choir. The release was a return to Parker's Folk Hop roots and his readoption of the MC mOS stage name. Marcus Parker had primarily been involved with Historicist Gospel acts, singing with the Suntown Gospel Choir between 2058-2062 and singing with the Peachtree Gospel Choir between 2061-2064. However a dispute over the choir's creative direction caused Parker to fired by the director. Following this incident, he ended up signing with Folk Hop legend Uriel's (Lana Daniel) Pinnacle Records. Daniels involvement with the single's writing and production, as well as the album's, was not particularly unexpected, both due to her long relation with Parker, part of the reason why she picked up the artist, as well as her public distaste of the Historicist movement. The track itself is a diss track, referencing the other 15 members of the choir and the choir director. The song expresses frustration with the failed imagination of the choir, as well as with the creative limitations of Historicist music.

The song stirred some controversy on release, as many casual listeners who were not familiar with the background of the song mis-characterized it as having anti-synth themes. Marcus Parker has since clarified this point, in an interview with Groove Zine, and insisting that "[he] bear no ill will towards our silicon sisters and metal brothers." Despite this clarification, the song has still become popular with some anti-synth circles.

Reposting this because of BOTPS and because it's really cool.

Nothing more hardcore than a folk hip hop singer dissing a gospel track

The future is a scary place

Save us, Macklemore

I don't know how to feel about this post.

However, the definition of folk music has broaden significantly. Today's country music would be considered a form of folk music, for example.

EDIT: I keep looking at this post at it still doesn't make any sense.
EDIT2: I feel a headache developing.

As Patton says, the point is not to actually make the accusation that KARL ROVE IS A DERBYFUCKER, as any claim that KARL ROVE IS A DERBYFUCKER might potentially be cause for litigation under the narrow US libel laws, but rather simply to insert the phrase KARL ROVE IS A DERBYFUCKER into sentences as many times as possible in order to refute, probe and question the idea that KARL ROVE IS A DERBYFUCKER while also bolding the phrase KARL ROVE IS A DERBYFUCKER in order that the first words that should catch the reader's eye is "KARL ROVE IS A DERBYFUCKER".

I wish this was short enough to sig. :D

The future of music is dark

But amusing

I don't judge a man for the content of his DO NOT OPEN DEFINITELY NOT PORN BUT DO NOT OPEN ANYWAY folder

Is there a reason why Tilden, who'd have been elected with the support of southern whites, goes further on reconstruction than Hayes, who was stopped from pursuing harsher reconstruction measures by the Democrats in exchange for recognising him as the legitimate president, did?

Pointless anyway since the South will ignore it and the Supreme Court will strike it down

So basically OTL

Paul Ryan just keeps falling upwards...

What happened? Did a deal get brokered in the RNC?

I have a feeling that the Republican ticket was killed or something before Inauguration Day, and the electors chose Ryan as the most suitable replacement.

Might as well jump on this trend of sorts

Glasnost was an influential acid-metal and Russian New Wave band formed in Petrograd in 1969. They were known for not using the traditional instruments of most metal bands, eschewing instruments such as the saxophone and the trumpet. Rather, they focused on a minimalist sound with repetitive beats and distorted guitars, becoming a noted band in the art-metal and New Wave scene at the time.

They were known for their albums being composed in the form of "day long jam sessions", which added to what some critics believed to be similar to improvisational jazz. Today, Glasnost is referred to as a "cult classic" band achieving minimal success in the 1970s. However, they have become largely influential in the robotik and avant-garde scenes of the modern day, with 1972's Telefon placing #54 on The Music Express' greatest albums of the 1970s.

Cool one, Danderns. I would so listen to Russian acid metal.

I'll allow it, but only if they all look like Jerry Garcia

Thrugg music

First, a little context.
The Un-Qyb-Oad are a collective of three species from the planet Qalbor Prime. Having evolved to protect each other from the giant predatory reptiles that used roam the planet, each Un-Qyb-Oad 'individual' is, in fact, three 'bodies': one Un, one Qyb, and one Oad.
The Un are telepathic brains protected by a thin membrane around them. Before their bonding with the Qyb and Oad, they lived in stagnant ponds, but now they use robotic chassis to move around.
The Qyb are large, muscular humanoids best known for the invention of Ydrass, generally deemed the most dangerous sport in existence.
And the Oad are bat-like creatures who navigate using sonar and can fly at high speeds, but are not very strong due to their hollow bones.

Thrugg music is the most popular genre among the Un, who are able to enjoy music thanks to advanced synthetic sensory tech often built into their walkers.
Thrugg arose in the late 21st century, combining the complex, multi-layered melodies of electro-classical with the mathematically-derived beats of mathdance and the neurosynth[1] common to neurocore.
Even the most slick, streaming-friendly Thrugg is highly esoteric to human ears. It uses many layers of sound, derived from a mix of neural activity and mathematical formulae. For instance, the best-selling Thrugg song of all time sported a rhythm based on the fibonacci sequence (die-hard Thrugg elitists considered this a sell-out move, using such a simple sequence).
Since first contact with Earth in 2119, Un artists have been exploring human music, and this has led to the formation of fledgling genres that combine Thrugg with human rock and hip-hop respectively. There is also Trance Thrugg, which combines the genre with traditional Oad religious chants.
The Thrugg genre is mostly divided between Old School and New Wave, with the latter incorporating musical influences separate from math and brain patterns. There are also Astro-Thrugg and Chem-Thrugg, which derive rhythms from the behaviour of space objects and from chemical reactions respectively.

[1]Neurosynth converts someone neural activity to music, and is often used to capture a particular emotion.

Wasn't intending on making this, but I was trying a few things in GIMP...

"When the lights burn down/when the tap dries out
When I'm on knees/cause I can't stop the bleed

Then all I have is you-
You and the city

And the city/and the city
And the city/and the city
And my screams/and the city

And the city/and the city
And the city/and the city
And the darkness/and the city
