What if Japan declared war on the Soviet Union after Pearl Harbor?

I would need to do more research but my thoughts are that a war with the USSR would result in no war with the US. My guess is that Japan would want coordinate more with Germany and isolate the USSR by cutting off supply lines.

AHC: A third side to the Cold War?

This is what I was thinking. China became a third side during the cold War. IIRC there was a border battle between Soviet and Chinese forces. I believe China was concerned about Soviet troops in Vietnam after the US withdrawal.

wi NO LARGE SCALE US ground forces in Viet Nam

Imagine the US accepting the 1963 election and working with Ho Chi Minh. IIRC. Ho Chi Minh worked with the US during WW II. The US may be able to get the political party's name changed from communist to social-Democrat, or something like that. Through aid, trade, diplomacy and cultural...

No US Involvement, No Africa Front, Hitler focuses South, How does WW2 turn out?

I often wonder the reverse: Germany focuses on the Mediterranean and extends the non-aggression pact with the USSR. As part of this new strategy, Germany tries to get Spain to join in the war against England.

    European NATO naval alternatives : 1950 - 1990

In my opinion, the first step will involve the decision to Integrate the military forces of different nations such as UK, France, Italy, Germany, etc to get economies of scale. I am imagining European NATO countries developing a nuclear deterrent and conventional forces independent of the US...

AHC - Allies invade Spain during WW2

The expiditionary force can possibly be the catalyst to draw Spain into the war if the Soviet Union pushes for it. This may also be a way for Stalin to get a large second front in Europe without a large invasion of France. My guess is that an invasion of Spain would be easier for the western...

If you could change One event post 1900..?

I would change the US response to Ho Chi Min winning the election in Vietnam in the early 60s. I would like to see the US use trade, aid and diplomacy turn Vietnam into a trading partner or even an ally. I wonder what the US would look like without a Vietnam War.

Most feasible way the Nazis could have attacked US territory?

If I am not mistaken, German U-boats attacked ships just off the US eastern seaboard days after Pearl Harbor. This attack, may have been the most impact the German Wehrmacht could have had. The only other alternative, as others here have pointed out, would involve agents engaged in terrorist...

What if the U.S entered world war 2 earlier ?

The US Army was not sufficiently built up to enter the war earlier, at least in my opinion

How long would the Japanese Empire have lasted if it never attacked Pearl Harbour?

The Emporer may have been able to get industrialists to seek profit over war and become political allies. And you may have guessed, I have made similar comments regarding Germany. They may have been successful if they were not such fascists.

Could China become a democracy in the 1910s?

Just to add to your point, would a democratic China have more effective industrial and military capabilities making a Japanese invasion less likely?

Could China become a democracy in the 1910s?

Could China have constructed a telegraph, rail and air communication system? Your point regarding literacy would probably result in difficult elections without more effective primary education.

How long would the Japanese Empire have lasted if it never attacked Pearl Harbour?

This is just my opinion. The Japanese empire may have been successful if they did the following: 1. Not attack the US 2. Pull back to Manchuria... Better yet... stop at Manchuria. If done early enough, the oil embargo from the US does not happen. 3. Stop the cruelty against the population...

WI: President Clinton taps the brakes on NAFTA in 1993?

In my opinion, NAFTA and globalization efforts are key drivers in the rise of populist movements. In the US many working class families lost their jobs and were basically told to go back to school. I need to research this, but I believe NAFTA and globalization led to increased income...

AHC: Have Japan as the First Major Axis Member to Surrender Unconditionally

My understanding is that until the US invasion of Tarawa (I probably goofed the spelling) that few nations really understood how to invade a fortified beach. After this invasion, the US and western allies, dramatically changed their tactics. I also read that even if the Japanese won the...

AHC: Have Japan as the First Major Axis Member to Surrender Unconditionally

Yes! You are correct. I believe that the British and Japanese worked to suppress an insurrection. I need to research this.
