For anyone interested in digging deeper into the topic of settler colonialism: http://www.helsinki.fi/iehc2006/papers3/Lloyd97.pdf
  2. L'Antarctique: A French Protestant South Africa

I know this just started but will we be seeing maps of the TTL as the TL goes along?
  3. If Sino-Japanese War is replaced in 1890s by a Spanish-Japanese War, how do great powers react?

Probably the United States, they're looking for bases/colonies in the Pacific
  4. Sino-Japanese war in 1874

yeah because 1875 isnt 1895. By 1895 Japan was on good terms with the British, who were okay with a pro-British power taking control of key assets in East Asia. Hence why they okay-signaled the annexation of Korea before it happened
  5. Sino-Japanese war in 1874

because the Europeans dont want anyone to destabilize their hold on Chinese trade, and Japan holding Taiwan does that. There were European powers interested in targeting Formosa too before the Japanese came
  6. Sino-Japanese war in 1874

    1. the Western powers would probably try stop this 2. Maybe, but less so than Korea/Vietnam
  7. Sino-Japanese war in 1874

For the Chinese regions like Korea/Tonkin are more important than Formosa, so it's unrealistic they'd go to war over them. Probably the proposed invasion of Korea instead of the Ganghwa Treaty would prompt a response.
  8. War aims of a Berlin-Moscow Axis

That's true, but it probably doesn't hurt to prepare for one
  9. War aims of a Berlin-Moscow Axis

nope, I meant any alternate D-Day couldn't happen without the US
  10. War aims of a Berlin-Moscow Axis

Well for whatever amphibious invasion that comes by, Britain/Japan can't take the brunt of the operation - I imagine it'd be the US, with them in assisting capacity
  11. War aims of a Berlin-Moscow Axis

Take over continental Europe/Asia and prepare for war with the United States
  12. WI: different Sino-Russian border

OTL, the Sino-Russian border goes from the Mongolian-Russian-Chinese tripoint along the Argun river, stops at the confluence of the Ussuri river, then runs south along the Ussuri until it reaches the Tumen river. This border was determined by a series of Sino-Russian border agreements throughout...
  13. AHC Italian front of WW2 stalls until end of 1944

I'd count WAllies pulling troops out from Italy early for another campaign as valid, though which theatre that they're sent for I'm not too sure.
  14. AHC Italian front of WW2 stalls until end of 1944

In OTL, the WAllies were able to push the Germans north of Rome by summer of 1944 and pushed as far north as just south of Bologne by winter of the same year. The challenge is that the Winter Line stays the main battlefront of the Italian theatre until winter of 1944-45, by which time the...
  15. AHC/WI: Seafaring west African empire secures regular trade between Africa and America

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/1068950.stm Basically this except much more institutionalized. What if an African empire secures regular trade centuries before Europeans set foot on the New World.
  16. WI: Hua Guofang instead of Deng Xiaoping

which is exactly what I meant, he continued the pre-76 party line. while Deng went in a completely different route.
  17. WI: Hua Guofang instead of Deng Xiaoping

If he won then it'd be a continuation of Maoist principles and Communist-line development. Hua was said to emulate Mao a lot in speeches and mannerisms after gaining power, along with trying to use the same propaganda machine to rev up popularity.
  18. AHC: Paraguay wins the Paraguayan War

In one of the more bizzare beginnings and conclusions of a war, the small country of Paraguay once declared war on all of its surrounding neighbours: Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. The country was completely decimated in the quick onslaught of foreign armies. The challenge is that Paraguay is...
