  1. DBQ: Why is Jesus a common Christian name, but Muhammad not a common Muslim name?

DB OOC: Umm, Jesus is a pretty common name in the Spanish speaking world.
  2. Europa Universalis IV - 13 August 2013

You lost that bad against rebels? The only thing I can think of is, where you drilling your troops? Did you remember to turn off drill and let your morale tick back up? Otherwise, yeah something screwy went on there.
  3. Europa Universalis IV - 13 August 2013

Combat width, check in your military screen. It controls how many units actually fight. Extras just wait as reserves, they don't take damage but they do lose morale. Early game it's like 12 or so, so only a part of your force was actually engaged the rest were just waiting and taking morale...
  4. What makes an area good for ancient civilization?

A nice river valley in an otherwise dry area is the best.
  5. Catholic church falls 1485 to Ottoman Empire

Basically this is the 15th century equivalent of 'nuke Mecca, no more Muslims'. Religion doesn't work that way
  6. Alternate World Region Names

So what are possible names for Africa and Asia respectively if those terms kept being used for the areas of the Roman provinces?
  7. Crusader Kings II - Paradox Entertainement (02/12)

So question, do we know if names get localized? So for instance in my Scotland game if Iain IV converts to English culture, could his son be John V?
  8. Independent Deep South

I'd just like to drop in here and point out that keeping the Ohio and Upper Mississippi Valleys (and by extension the Great Lakes, which in turn feeds into New York) economies running required free movement on the Mississippi river and access to the port of New Orleans. If nothing else the...
  9. France annexes Belgium in 1748

This Louis wasn't just being retarded in not expanding, everyone, Spain, Prussia, Sweden, Austria, and especially Britain and the UP agreed that the one thing they did want for the Austrian Netherlands was French annexation.
  10. Population centers in a medieval N. America

Saint Louis, New Orleans, Detroit, and (if their is a canal Lake Michigan-Illinois river canal) Chicago are all going to be major cities. New York might not be as big as OTL without the the Eire canal, but it's still probably a decent sized port.
  11. Crusader Kings II - Paradox Entertainement (02/12)

Why must France always balkanize in my high medieval games? Screw you Aquitaine you make my maps look dumb. Anyway, playing a Henry of the Obotrites starting in 1081. I'm on Henrik III not, whose just inherited Denmark and I control Lubeck to Marienberg on the Baltic south shore.
  12. Augustus and livia have a son

Well, this being Augustus, he would be brilliant and die in freak accident at 14.
  13. What if Florida became independent from Spain instead of being American?

If you discount native Americans, virtually nobody. It's surprisingly hard to find any census data for the Spanish colonies (and the more populated West Florida was largely incorporated into Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama), but the 1830 census had a little under 35,000. When you factor in...
  14. What if Florida became independent from Spain instead of being American?

I don't think people appreciate how small Florida was before the 20th century. An independent Florida would be a few cattle ranches and fishermen who would be immediately swamped with American settlers and end up with the same fate as West Florida.
  15. Request Maps/Flags Here

Nothing interesting, just a personal world building project/thought excerise I've been toying with for a long time and wanted a map to help visualize some things (now just to find a . I may at some point post the finished results or it may grow into a timeline or an AH. But as of now it just...
  16. Request Maps/Flags Here

    Pretty great, thanks.
  17. Request Maps/Flags Here

Could anyone cook up an archipelago in the South China Sea, roughly corresponding to the location of the OTL Spratly islands with a landmass capable of supporting a substantial (tens of millions) population?
  18. Why USA and not USSR ?

Inter-service rivalry had allot to do with it. The Japanese Navy saw their own budget get crushed and the army's ballooning in the event of Russo-Japanese war two, electric boogaloo. By contrast, a war against the occident would be primarily a naval affair. Also, practicality, Japanese war...
  19. AHC: wank off a mediocre historical figure

If you want to make the jump from mediocre to disastrous, how about Louis II of Hungary?
