  1. A useful tool for creating maps...

Hi. Long time no see, folks... Just dropped in to say hello and to leave a link to this useful tool. Until we meet again... 🤗 https://www.map.army/about/en.html
  2. AHC :Have Battleships remain the biggest fleet element up till today .

But then you don't need that big a hull.
  3. Explosion heard around the world... Or Elser succeeds

Carinhall, Night The excitement of the previous day wore Goering down. Neurath reported that the Bolsheviks were trying some last ditch effort to stall the Germans and Goering ordered him to be relentless. Stalin was not to be let off the hook. By late afternoon, he decided to go home and...
  4. WI: No U-2 Incident

Well, it would be embarrassing for them to admit to the fact that US was able to fly airplanes over their country at will with them unable to do anything to shoot them down.
  5. What lessons did Britain learn (and forget) from the Boer War?

This. Imagine the BEF charging ahead in red tunics. They would stand out even more than the French did.
  6. What if Germany makes peace on one of the fronts?

Yes, the Wallies meant it. US was not going to take partial solution and then have to fight it out all over again in 20 years. They wanted to get the GIs to Berlin and dismantle the Nazi regime. Nothing less would be acceptable.
  7. Could Nazism Survive Long Term?

Problems Germany, which effectively controls Europe will not have (ASB as that might be). The Nazi 'ideology' had no qualms with applying brute force approach in solving any and all problems. If not faced with a significant outside threat, they could survive for a long time.
  8. Explosion heard around the world... Or Elser succeeds

Moscow, two hours after ultimatum The visit of the German ambassador to Molotov and the Foreign Ministry, left the building in the state of chaos. Molotov immediately summoned Beria and general Proskurov, head of GRU. After a quick conference, the two intelligence services produced written...
  9. Could Nazism Survive Long Term?

North Korea was still alive and kicking, last time I checked. So why would an infinitely more powerful ideology driven state survive? It would be worse than a nightmare, but it could theoretically survive.
  10. No Heinkel HE-177, where do the engines go?

Well it was the direct competitor with Jumo engines, so I gather they are similar? How difficult is it to retrofit them? But again, whatever they do with the engines (more of Bf-109 or 110 seems possible) they are getting swamped under thousands of Allied planes and still lack fuel, so... Very...
  11. No Heinkel HE-177, where do the engines go?

2.000 more Ju88s? If used as night fighters they could make a significant addition to the defense of the Reich from the British bombers. On the other hand, wherever the engines go, there is very little difference altogether. By 1943, the Allies are producing 60.000+ airplanes a year and 2.000...
  12. Which was more effective at stopping the German war machine? Kursk or Stalingrad

IMHO it was Stalingrad. The entire campaign of Fall Blau resulted in over a million casualties for the Germans and over 2 million for the Soviets (1,1 million KIA/MIA) which was much more than the losses at Kursk. Only tank figures may be comparable for the Germans, while losses in men were...
  13. Alternate Republic of China Air Force- ideas and discussion

I'd say that they might get it from the Russians. Would they want to is another question. Tu-22 would require an exhaustive refit to make it compatible with the rest of the fleet IMHO. Would it be worth it?
  14. Was a negotiated peace in Europe after Jan. 1st 1942 possible?

But the problem remains a catch-22 situation. Any peace the Germans find acceptable at this point will not be acceptable to the Allies and vice versa. For any German government imaginable, any peace in 1942 that returns Germany to 1939 borders, let alone 1938 ones is tantamount to...
  15. Was a negotiated peace in Europe after Jan. 1st 1942 possible?

I do not think it was possible. The Germans would have to sacrifice too much, no one would believe them anyway and without the entire inner circle of Nazi being wiped out, I do not see it happening.
  16. Japanese invasion of Russia 1941

The Germans would need to go 'further' way beyond the Ural mountains to have any realistic hope of ever getting 'near(1)' the Japanese. They had not logistic capabilities to do so even if the entirety of the male population of the USSR decided to suddenly cease to exist... Let alone with the Red...
  17. Japanese invasion of Russia 1941

And let's back this up with some statistics: Tarawa - US casualties: 1.696 dead, 2.101 wounded, Japan: 4.960 killed, 17 captured. Kwajalein: US casualties - 348 killed total and less than 1.500 wounded, Japan 7.800 killed out of 8.000 Eniwetok: US 313 killed+ 77 MIA, 879 wounded...
  18. The life and times of Adolph Notler

Will Sceubner Richter survive? What you are attempting sounds really interesting. How will Notler overcome the very popular rhetoric of Blood and Soil faction? Many prominent racial theorists existed promoting the Drang Nach Osten and not much were promoting the Southern or African option. It...
  19. Can stonewall Jackson take d.c ?

And the troops he requested come from where? Manasass left both armies licking their wounds. Besides, the weather worsened and turned the roads into marshes. Furthermore, DC is not possible for Confederates even if the three previously mentioned factors were different, because it was already...
  20. How could Russia have won the Invasion of East Prussia

WWI? Hard. They'd need a more thorough preparation, acknowledgment of some important factors such as logistics, terrain, enemy capabilities and so on.
