Alternate names for the CAR

And I don't mean automobiles.

Next to South Africa, the Central African Republic probably has the most literal and least inspired name of any country in the continent (and that's with two of its neighbours named after the same river!)

Is there a somewhat more snazzy name for this nation? The main river running through it is the Ubangi, leading to the Sudanese governing it as Upper Oubangi and the French as Ubangi-Shari within French Equatorial Africa; between those periods the Wadai Empire was sovereign over the territory.

Any other suggestions?
