  1. WI: Santa Anna killed shortly after San Jacinto?

To add to the previous post, The Texans force at Mier was outnumbered approximately 300/3000 (That's ten to one). After 24 hours of house-to-house fighting the Mexican Army had nearly 1000 casualties dead or wounded (Mostly dead) versus the Texans who had lost less than 20 men. Had the Texans...
  2. AHC: French Republic of Texas?

Have you read Sicarius's "The Stars at Night?" It has a French Texas.
  3. Is their anyway that California, Texas and the Southwest remain a part of Mexico

Mexican Stability is the #1 factor. So Unifying the Mexican State and not merely crushing rebellions is imperative. That being said, if Texas still Revolts as in OTL there would have to be a mass genocide and deportation of Texans to re-establish Mexican control over that territory.
  4. PC: Dust Bowl in Alternate North Americas and its effects

Sorry, I meant OTL not ITTL. The Question is though, would the ROT give them water in such a crisis? That is if those pipelines are even in place.
  5. PC: Dust Bowl in Alternate North Americas and its effects

The Republic of Texas would definitely complicate the politics of the Dust Bowl. ITTL, Water in Colorado is pumped from the Western side of the Continental Divide to the Eastern, to irrigate farms in Kansas and Nebraska.
  6. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

*Sigh* Back to the drawing board then.
  7. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

Right, but but Jeff Davis wasn't running for or ever claimed to be the US President, nor is the South trying to secede ITTL. The South sees themselves to be in the right. The fraud argument is basically "If X wasn't on our ballot, how can X be our President? How can X be elected without our...
  8. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

Texas is a British protectorate at this point in time. This question is a part of a larger Texas timeline that is in the works.
  9. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

Presidential Succession Act of 1792 It took them 50 ballots to compromise on Pierce. There were many favorite sons, just look at the nominees: Lewis Cass: Michigan / Northwestern, James Buchanan: Pennsylvania / Upper South, William Marcy: New York / Northern, Stephen Douglas: Illinois /...
  10. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

Only in theory; but No, chance at all. Bleeding Kansas could become an infinitely worse conflict that could eventually break out into open warfare. In the OTL Atchison personally led a army of 5,000 Pro-Slavery "Border Ruffians" In Kansas. ITTL at the head of his mob, He could oversee the...
  11. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

The Election is merely the spark like in 1860 in OTL; A close Election followed by an Multi-party election with extremely controversial candidates. Yes Fremont was a Radical Republican. The main issue is the expansion of slave states since there is no Texas or California. Filibusters abroad have...
  12. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

There would be lots of changes just in the locations of Battles. Sterling Price and John Hunt Morgan might have a bigger roll since Atchison's Capital would most likely be in his home state of Missouri. Of course Atchison, Kansas was founded in 1854; Which might be fashioned as a...
  13. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

Thanks! :D Instead of the Secession Crisis of it's Succession Crisis. Two competing United States Federal Governments. Similar on the face of it but has the potential for drastically different political alliances.
  14. WI: Presidential Succession Crisis causes the ACW

WI: War of US Presidential Succession Hold on to your socks it's about to get crazy in here. :D For this scenario the POD is around or slightly before 1840. William Henry Harrison doesn't die and John Tyler never becomes President. Henry Clay wins the election in 1844. Texas remains...
  15. AHC:Independent California

Not necessarily. One of the places the LDS considered settling before Utah was the Nueces Strip in South Texas. Negotiations were in progress in 1844 but ended when Joseph Smith was murdered. At any rate, with the Mormons general distrust of authority and ROT's lack of power to assert authority...
