  1. What if NAZI Germany didn’t build battleships?

I don't think conscripted unemployed are a 1:1 for submarine crew. I've never been to sea beyond a couple of ferry trips across the channel and the Irish sea but can guess from that that if drafted I wouldn't be much use as a sailor never mind a submariner
  2. Operation Sea Lion (1974 Sandhurst Wargame)

When the topic of German air deployable artillery came up earlier I was going to ask about their recoilless guns before checking their date of deployment. Would 75mm or 105mm LG40 recoilless guns be of any use in engaging British strong points or armour if they could be brought into service in...
  3. Operation Sea Lion (1974 Sandhurst Wargame)

But you need to put the lighter stuff on top so it doesn't get crushed. The British are going to roll over as soon as the Germans land, what will they need more grenades and mortar bombs for? Speaking of which, where can you set your mortars up to fire on a shingle beach?
  4. Operation Sea Lion (1974 Sandhurst Wargame)

Great info on the Stringbag everyone, cheers. I was more questioning the Kriegsmarine having operational destroyers by the time the barges are halfway across the channel, not questioning Swordfish being able to target them At this time was the Swordfish not being kitted out with air-surface...
  5. Operation Sea Lion (1974 Sandhurst Wargame)

What destroyers do Swordfish have to hit? I don't see them having any problems against troopships at anchor offloading on to lighters They are also more than capable of dive bombing slow moving trains of Rhine barges
  6. Operation Sea Lion (1974 Sandhurst Wargame)

Pull up alongside and have your marines hose the decks with Lewis guns, SMGs and grenades. What are they going to do about it?
  7. Operation Sea Lion (1974 Sandhurst Wargame)

But these are German 88s so one hit will cripple a British battlecruiser, remember the Hood. British guns obviously only pop flags reading 'BANG' out the end before they surrender to the superior uniforms of the Deutsche Soldaten manning cannons strapped to wooden pontoons
  8. A Blunted Sickle - Thread II

Also correct me if I am wrong but there are free Polish formations serving under French command in France and Norway
  9. England maintains more of a manufacturing orientation after 1980?

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and English regions turned down devolution, it wasn't denied
  10. If the Allies lost at D-Day, how much of Europe would the Soviets have taken?

Brooke? Presumably the USA would insist on the SAC being American though
  11. A Blunted Sickle - Thread II

Was there not an issue from the German occupation of Paris where the turret factory for the B1 was damaged? I may have to re-read the first thread
  12. Algerian-like putsch of the Generals in Northern Ireland

What do you people think Northern Ireland is? Never going to happen.
  13. Could obsolete M3 Lees be converted into proto-IFVs?

Could the 37mm fire canister? Would that be worth keeping it for?
  14. More Battleships and No Aircraft Carriers for Germany

German battleships were good, but not good enough that 1 more and a handful of cruisers could make a significant impact on British efforts elsewhere. The force covering them will be bigger but the British can afford that
  15. AHC: No Philips-head screwdrivers

Or Scrulox. Too right we do, driver holds the screw allowing you to keep one hand on your ladder
