I agree that this is a great book. Another one of my favorites is A Peace to End All Peace, The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Creation of the Modern Middle East. It reads almost like a soap opera and examines in depth the personal motivations of the people involved.

I'd just like to say that I really like this map, mostly because the borders are reminiscent of OTL borders but are rarely the exact same. It gives you a sense of deja vu, but also a sense of newness at the same time. Also, the map is beautiful.

On the topic of borders, I think that a Colorado River border would work well. Seeing as no one in Europe or America really cared about what the native americans thought, they probably wouldn't take the Navajo into account and the Colorado River is a natural border for a nation centered in Utah.
