  1. US - German Peace Treaty after collapse of Western Front but before US troops enter Europe in large numbers

There isn't much reason for Britain and France to seek an armistice independent from the USA, a blockade could still be enforced, to mitigate or even up terms. If such a situation presented itself, USA would block any German attempt to establish colonies in the Pacific, Africa, either getting...
  2. Alternate Battle of the Falkland 1914.

A nice read, lots of work on your part, Thanks, definitely a German victory to sink a BC and damage a BC. Might have some Dogger Bank impacts. Probably as good a victory as possible in that situation. Only debatable part is maybe the operability of Dresden to go another 6 months, even with 3...
  3. AHC: Make WW1 a stalemate

Its really hard with politicians, or political groups for one side to give up if your Germany, and a couple million are dead, countless treasure spent, that your going to be able to sell a compromise peace is hard. So its almost that the government responsible has to be overthrown then the next...
  4. Consequences of Leningrad falling in 1941-42?

Agree, extra shipping, plus arms could produce earlier results in North Africa for the Allies (which could be an Axis advantage). OR... With the fall of Leningrad, the Germans send the Ladoga Seibel ferry force to supply North Africa, along with the Tiger Tanks sent to the Leningrad front OTL...
  5. Consequences of Leningrad falling in 1941-42?

The Caucasus were being supplied by across Iran/Lend Lease, I bet the Soviet reduce Mars in the Center (and their OTL counter attacks around Leningrad), maybe Uranus is delayed a week or two. But I bet the Soviets would still be able to launch a strong counter attack still, but more Axis...
  6. Consequences of Leningrad falling in 1941-42?

Some thoughts: The Germans had a large Seibel ferry force on the lake in 1942, even some Italian MAS boats, these could be redeployed, perhaps taking more supply up the Don. Even a division or two of fresh German infantry might help take the remaining pocket of the city. Many of the...
  7. Axis victory:Nazi-Japan transcontinental rail,oil pipeline

In this case, if your talking central aisan "Stan regions", the Germans setup friendly puppet states, and locals do most of the work and the German garrisons can be small. Mideast and even India could be this way too, although it would be easy to screw up places like Egypt, a food provider at...
  8. Peace in our time - 1941 or 1943?

Let say the Germans pull back from Leningrad and Moscow in exchange for Soviet evacuation from Sevastopol, Maikop, and the Kuban (Germany secures an undamaged oil producing and agricultural region). OTL from Goebbels diary there was angst building about the casualties, soviet demolitions, the...
  9. German Empire turning into a republic in a WWI stalemate timeline?

I imagine in a status quo peace, a bunch of questions are going to get raised: 1) What exactly happened in July 1914 and who did or didn't do what to stop it, after all millions are dead, untold treasure spent and what is there to show for it. 2) What good did that big fancy navy of the Kaisers...
  10. Peace in our time - 1941 or 1943?

As far as peace with the USSR, if Germany did even a little better by the end of October 40, sealed of Leningrad, and Moscow under artillery fire, I could see the Soviets agreeing to a temporary armistice, one that would take those cities out of artllery fire and allow supply to them, maybe a...
  11. Peace in our time - 1941 or 1943?

I think a certain amount of this is tolerated by governments, just to get info on the other side, get a read on the other sides state of mind, or maybe to get negotiating points useful against their own Allies. Once the USA was in the war, no Allied country would make peace with Germany, worst...
  12. Mandate of Syria and the Lebanon joins Free France in 1940

Thanks. Interesting thesis, snip form Wikipedia below, I never knew that was something that existed as a thought at the time. Reality is that having the two governments situation did work to reduce French occupation civilian casualties per capita as compared to like Poland, but people like...
  13. Mandate of Syria and the Lebanon joins Free France in 1940

Explain the thesis for me. In my case just trying to talk about an interesting OP, the decisions people have to make in the most trying of times is interesting. The fact that France had two governments was just chance in the OTL case, but USA dealt with both as needed.
  14. Mandate of Syria and the Lebanon joins Free France in 1940

Yes that was a worst case scenario I was coming up with, I am sure all the politicians of France had to run the hypotheticals through their minds when deciding to do an armistice with Germany and then to collaborate with the Axis or just stay loyal to the Axis collaborationist regime. Forced out...
  15. Mandate of Syria and the Lebanon joins Free France in 1940

The French once they agreed to the armistice played it smart, had two governments in play, associated with either side, and could adjust to the geo political realities as they changed, easy to judge all that now, but not from the viewpoint of July 1940. Fortunately for the French, the Germans...
