Holding an office since 22? You've gotta be kidding me.
You misread it. Penultimo's first office started when was 32, not 22.
Anyway, it's not like he got the job because of his own ability

Utah not being Conservative, and instead going radical? ASB.
Brilliant work as always. The Transhumanist Party was the same one founded in OTL, right? The Party of Zoltan Istvan?
Brilliant.Well, the LDS is somewhat conservative on other issues, although not as conservative as they used to be. They're just really into the whole Transhumanist thing.
Yeah, the old Transhumanist party was Istvan's. However, it fell apart in the 2020s when Istvan got bored with trying to run a political party, and his more devoted lieutenants quickly destroyed what remained of the party due to petty squabbling. However, Ascension is considered a spiritual successor.
Well, I had planned to take a bit of a break on wikiboxes, I realized that I had actually already made the logos for the last two parties with seats in Congress. So, might as well finish up with the U.S. political parties!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The future that the Transhumanists of the 20th and early 21st century yearned for has arrived. Increasingly widespread genetic therapy allows for diseases once thought incurable to put to a grave. Advanced prosthetics have become nearly indistinguishable from organic body parts, and often surpass them. Species that have been extinct for hundreds of years have been revived, both for human enjoyment and for restoring damaged ecosystems. The use of implants to deliver medicine has made the treatment of chronic diseases both painless and affordable. Synthetic intelligences play a role in almost every industry, from manufacturing to software, from agriculture to the arts. 91% of families have consistent internet access, and virtual reality has developed from being a toy to widespread use in business and the sciences.
While this has become the state of affairs, there are several ways to respond to it. Techno-Progressives embrace and appreciate technological development, and seek to ensure that it is allowed to progress safely. Bio-Conservatives are more cautious, wanting to make sure that technology does not progress the ability of humans to contain it. Deep Ecologists see this state of affairs as deeply disturbing, that the human condition has been reduced to blinking lights, that what was natural is becoming replaced with metal simulacrums, and seek to reverse the tide.
Transhumanists look at the future that their ideological brethren once predicted, and sigh, because it is not enough.
Transhumanism can be both a lifestyle or a political platform. Transhumanist "lifestylists" indulge in the technological wonders and pleasures that make even Techno-Progressives rather uneasy. Having limbs purposely removed and replaced with prosthetics. Using neurological implants, called Tasps, to directly stimulate areas of the brain. Using germline modification to grant their children custom-designed DNA. Recreational gene therapy to change one's appearance or abilities, granting phosphorescent skin, enhanced muscular growth, or even the ability to see infrared light. Using an Augmented Nervous System (ANS) to experience the sensation of sharing their entire body with an S.I.
Needless to say, many people take issue with this sort of behavior, regardless of if there's any harm involved. The Pan-Oceanic Trade Pact leaves a great deal of room for regulations on consumer use of advanced technology, and many of its member countries take advantage of this wiggle-room. Many countries outside the POTP have also passed strict regulations on the use of biomedical technology and cyberneurological interfaces. Despite these attempts at prohibition, the demand is still high for many of these recreational products and services, or RecTech, and many sections of the criminal element have decided to diversify by getting into the RecTech Trade.
As a political philosophy, Transhumanists believe that the solutions for mankind's largest problems are beyond anything that deregulation or the redistribution of wealth or appeals to nationalism can solve. Transhumanists argue that mankind's greatest problems, whether they be social, economic, or environmental, can be overcome by surpassing the human condition itself. This philosophy is usually combined with other economic ideologies, but the idea of changing human social structures by changing humanity itself still stands.
The U.S.'s primary political Transhumanist organization is Ascension, and combines fairly radical Transhumanist ideas with more moderate Paleoliberal economics. While Ascension makes overtures to restore some of the U.S.'s more successful but now-defunct programs, such as Social Security and publicly-owned primary schools, its primary concern is to increase the availability and legality of human augmentations and safe RecTech. Ascension also campaigns on a fairly progressive platform for synthetic rights, which includes a basic set of protections for all synths, regardless of whether or not they're autonomous or employed. While Ascension is considered sufficiently radical to be unelectable in much of the country, they've hit a significant chord with their campaigns in Utah and other parts of the Mormon belt.
Specifically, a strain of pro-Transhumanist thought in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, called Transfigurism, has developed and grown from its early 21st century roots. The upper hierarchy of the Church official condoned this school of thought in the 2050s, and it has rapidly expanded throughout LDS and LDS-influenced communities in the U.S. and throughout the world. A U.S. Gallup poll in 2066 showed that Mormons were the religious group most likely to approve of Synthetic Personhood (Mormon, 79%; Shia Muslim, 68%; Secular Humanist, 64%; Sunni Muslim, 62%; Hindu, 55%; etc...) and that Mormons were the group most likely to approve of their son or daughter "making an educated decision to pursue voluntary prosthetics" (Mormon, 61%; Secular Humanist, 49%; None, 43%; Mainline Protestant, 38%; etc...). Combined with the fact that Mormonism is one of the few faiths to not see an overall drop in adherents from the beginning of the 21st century, Transfigurism has become an undeniable significant movement in both the political and religious spheres.
With support from the LDS Church, Ascension has become the one of the most popular parties in Utah, having a majority in the State House, a seat in the House of Representatives, a Senate seat, and the governorship. While Ascension is weak in other parts of the country, it has plenty of room to grow, with plans to mount strong challenges in other parts of the Mormon belt (Idaho, Montana, W. Colorado) as well as in the west coast.

Could have gone with Optimates for "Trump" and Populares for "Obama" instead, just to be authentic.
"Congratulations, Senator Crassus, you've just lost Hellenicia and Macedonia to Caesar."The US party names would be recognisable by the Romans though (which is kind of depressing!)
Of course Democratic is a Greek word whereas Republican is Latin derived so the Republicans could claim they were more nativist and the Democrats were infected by effete foreign ideas - oh, this almost works too well
When Greece sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing disease. They're bringing ransacking. They're sodomites. And some, I assume, are good people."Congratulations, Senator Crassus, you've just lost Hellenicia and Macedonia to Caesar."
Reagant, I've got to say, that is, without a doubt, the single best infobox someone has ever posted in this thread.
