Seeing as we are having a sudden surge of Sea**** type threads, a variation.
Stephen Bungay in his book The most dangerous enemy, a history of the Battle of Britain, suggests (p.377) that an alternative strategy for the Germans in 1940 was that of commando type raids to topple the radar masts.
"The radar stations were difficult to destroy, but they were all on the coast, which made them vulnerable to two tactics: air attacks by squadrons of Bf 110s, and commando raids."
" A few paratroopers could easily have been put ashore at night, for although Admiral Raeder did not have any battleships he did have E-boats."
Is this a viable alternative, though it wouldn't be easy with German inter-service rivalry!
