WI: President Cheney?

I suspect not. Cheney had significant health problems. It is entire possible that the pressure of becoming President will trigger a heart attack. Even if it doesn't kill him, which is a distinct possibility, it may force him to resign.

It's ten years later and he is still chugging along.

Biggest policy difference is his support of gay marriage.

in 2005 his approval ratings were still higher than his disapproval ratings.

By 2008, the war is going to be unpopular, and he is going to be running on it, if he chooses to run.

If he does not run, the GOP would almost certainly go with his VP.

But how much difference was there, really, between Cheneyism and Bushism? My impression is that the two men were pretty much in basic agreement about what the administration should do.

So, I'm wondering how much things would really change under a President Cheney. Were there many OTL examples of Bush resisiting something Cheney was pushing for?

The only thing that comes to mind is that, from what I read, Cheney wanted Bush to issue pardons to certain people, and Bush refused.

Bush got the Israelis not to attack Iran in 2006 or 2007, when they were really about to, and Cheney disagreed with that course of action.
