The Negative Zone

An alternate dimension discovered by the Fantastic Four. It is currently under occupation by the US Gov't in hopes that more super villains will cease their attempt for freedom. The Negative Zone has been described as a "forever night populated only by asteroids". Further details about this dimension have been suppressed by the current Administration. Popular opinion has shaped the Negative Zone as somewhere in the Pacific since the status of the Fantastic Four has matched Stark Industries as a "government agency all but in name".

Annihilus

Supposed native from the Negative Zone, all the actions that this criminal has done lies mostly in the constant battles over the prison facility and the Fantastic Four. He is described as a "massive bug with an ant's head, human arms, and a green goblin sled". Annihilus has been seen mostly in New York City and exclusively focuses only on the Fantastic Four.

Some Major Threats...

Atlantis- Atlantis has overcome major political in the past 70 years. Up until 1945, the undersea nation was ruled by a corrupt dictatorship which sided with the Axis during WWII, led by an insane Emperor Namor I and his equally cruel Empress Dorma. Led by a political coalition led by Chancellor Vashti (c.1945-1953), a republican government was established. This government was faced with Civil War (c.1950-53), roughly around the same time as the Korean War, which led many to suspect Soviet involvement in the war.

When Chancellor Attuma (c.1953-1981), after the the sudden death of Vashti, came to power in 1953, it was intially believed that he would continue the "surface-friendly" policies of his predecessors. Unfortunately, this was not to be. From 1964-1967, Attuma led a brutal series of purges, which led to the deaths of c.30% of the populace. To make matters worse, from 1968-1973, Chancellor Atttuma launched the Lemurian campaign which was seen as a war of conquest. Surface dwellers were inadvertantly drawn into the crisis when surface naval vessels became fair targets, such as the USS Phoenix (1968), the USS Chopper (1971), along with the Soviet vessels K-129 (1968) and the K-8 (1970) . Attuma would subsequently launch attacks on the surface world, crushing the U.S.-backed Poseid Rebellion in 1981 under Lorvex.

When Chancellor Madoxx (c.1981-1992) came to power, the escalation of force would get worse. In 1984, Chancellor Madoxx ordered the seizure if the Suez Canal, demanding a tariff for "environmental damage" caused by the transport of oil through the canal. In 1990, Madoxx challenged the U.S. by seizing the Panama Canal. As in the case with the Suez Canal, joint military operations with the Soviets prevented an Atlantean takeover.

The policy is currently the one under Chancellor Merrano (c.1992-x). Starting in 1993, the U.S., Russia, and China have been waging a war against Atlantis at Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Somalia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Brazil and Peru. In 2007, they overthrew the governments of Indonesia and Somalia, sparking international attention. Currently President K'ang Bei Wang is planning to host 8-nation (United States, China, Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, and India) talks with the Atlantean government to prevent further escalation of hostilities. Ambassadors Tyrak and Raman have arrived at the United Nations to discuss the possibility of peace talks, but many are frightened by the fact that 60% of the world's populace is within striking distance of the forces of Atlantis...

Some Major Threats....

The Inhumans- The remnants of a massive Kree experiment into human evolution, this alien race was not discovered until 1965, when U.S. and Soviet space probes discovered the City of Atillan, located near Mare Crisium on the lunar surface.

What is most troubling about the Inhumans is the policies supporting eugenics and a religious caste system. The rigidity of the cast system is held resposible for the successful secession of Maximus the Mad, with the support of the Alpha Primitives in 1968, wherein thousands died in communal bloodshed and sectarian violence. What troubles many human governments is Black Bolt's "treaty of friendship" with the government of Atlantis under Chancellor Merrano in 1993. In 1994, the Inhuman Coucil detonated a "Terrigen Bomb". According to SHIELD reports and the Clinton administration, the weapon in question, if released on a population, would act as a "global mutagen", capable of transforming the entire populace into mutants.

In 1995-1997, the government of Black Bolt and Medusa placed 10,000 political opponents under arrest for their opposition to the Inhuman Council and its policies towards mandatory birth control, abortion, and population control. This move has been a sore point with conservative political leaders on Earth, especially the United States and Great Britain...

In 2004, troops loyal to Black Bolt and Medusa launched a religious crackdown on Alpha-Primitives led by Dewoz, who demanded self-rule. They were subsequently taken aback, when Queen Medusa was assassinated by an Alpha-Primitive extremist, driving the country to the brink of civil war. Many believe that the loss of Medusa, and the promotion of Karnak, while tactically correct, has alienated more political allies than necessary. This has been seen in the recent efforts by the Karnak to cover up the "Terrigen Disaster" which has killed over 75,000 people.

Currently SHIELD reports point to the possible intervention of the Inhumans in the affairs of Genosha, citing a need to protect the mutant populace. SHIELD is especially concerned about any deployment of a Terrigen weapon on terrestrial soil. Furthermore, Department of Homeland Security has requested a ban on mutant groups such as The X-Men, citing the 2002 Patriot Act, and the provisions of the 1988 Mutant Registration Act....

Genosha

Often regarded as the "other pox*", Genosha is a constant reminder to many on how corrosive the mutant problem is. Over the last 50 years there have been 50 coups, 50 counter-coups, 50 massacres of varying sizes, a brief tenure by Magneto as leader, and two interventions by SWORD/SHIELD. Of the two, only the former was more successful due to an outright takeover that lasted twenty years.

Statistics on Genosha's population are usually divided between mutant and non-mutant. During SHIELD's seizure, the percentage was 20% mutant and grew up to 40%. It should also be noted that both the Superhuman Registry and the Mutant Registry came from models pioneered by a previous Genoshian government.

As of late, Genosha is currently experiencing civil strife on whether or not should formal democracy be restored, given the irritating presence of the mutants as a political presence. (On record Genosha is the only nation with this problem.) Their current politics can be divided as such - pro American, pro Mutant, and the moderates. Due to the incidents involving the Inhumans, it has become painfully obvious that the pro Mutant faction has been splintering in the more radical aspect of militancy. The current Administration has increased their aid to the pro-American and moderate parties with disastrous results. It remains to be seen if SHIELD will be used again.

Mikhail Rasputin

Regarded as one of the "troika" of Modern Russia's answer to the X-men with uneven results. First and foremost, one must point out that Mikhail Rasputin is a relative of the infamous Rasputin. He shares many characteristics with his ancestor and the "Motherland" herself, ranging from outright aggressive behavior to those that he thinks are "baser" to moments of outright sadism.

The origins of Mikhail's powers run a similar course as the Fantastic Four in being affected by strange curiosities in the universe. In his unexpected return between 1978-1979, Mikhail displayed the tendency to warp reality around him, with his power increasing based on other mutants around him. These powers proved to be the undoing of his short status as the USSR's "equal" of the Thing with the Brotherhood soundly trouncing him in Madripor.

Currently Mikhail Rasputin has gone into politics and holds a minor post in Putin's government

Some Quick Thoughts

Order of Heimdall-The Order of Heimdall is a fascist,right-wing, neo-pagan organization that was established in Tottenham, England by Donald Velez and James Vindhlér in 1976. In 1983, Scotland Yard seized a manuscript for The Temple of Heimdall which portrayed a fictional white supremacist compound which would regularly kidnap and torture young women from urban areas to be used as "breeding stock" and forced into polygamy. The stated goal of the organization is "the armed protection and defense of the Aryan race, against those who would soil through miscegenation and racial politics, via racial holy war..." According to INTERPOL and SHIELD reports, the order has grown in Iceland (1990), Sweden (1994), Norway (1996), Denmark (1999) and Spain (2003). What is even more troubling is the sudden rise in the group's popularity with the presence of Thor (a.k.a. Cain Marko) and his high profile interaction with groups such as The Avengers and The X-Men. According to one June 2005 report by SHIELD, a Thor headline can cause a spike in "hate-crimes" by as much as 300% in certain parts of Europe....

Kali-In 1939, RSS Hindu fundamentalists members in Dargapur established the Serpent Society in an effort to invoke the goddess Kali, just as it had been done in 1828, with the launch of the Thuggee cult. In 1965, SHIELD operatives battled a cell of the Serpent Society, which Kali had commanded near New Delhi. In 1968, Kali attempted a public assassination attempt against the Beatles in Bombay. In 1985, American publisher Robert Luczak was driven insane in Calcutta after Kali demanded that he publish a manuscript that would known as The Song of Kali. In 1995, Kali began ordering a series of terrorist attacks around the globe. As a goddess, she is brutal and ruthless, demanding ritual sacrifice. She believes that the presence of other deities such as Thor, Heimdall, Loki, Hercules and Sif pose a major threat to her attempted control of the Indian Sub-Continent. Unlike the other deities, she also operates through possession of avatars rather than through secret identitites. As such, she can possess the mind and body of a follower, changing her identity at a whim....

Now for something *really* different.

Godzilla.​

In response to such great threats as Venom and the Juggernaut, the nation of Japan has recruited the great scientist Doctor Demonicus to make for themselves a monster to defend the nation. Inspired by a series of films about a large monster, Demonicus takes bones from a large, dead saurian creature near Odo Island. He begins to work with ancient secrets of science, working with the High Evolutionary and Norrin Radd. Eventually, a creature is formed. Demonicus is pleased. He begins to train his creature, when a Hulk rampage in Tokyo forces the release of a Gamma Bomb near his headquarters. The Gamma Rays merged Demonicus with his monster, and made the monster grow to a colossal height, that of 100 meters. Now resembling a green version of the 1990s version of the monster, a newly intelligent threat awaits Japan and Betty Ross, one called Godzilla...:eek:

*Yes,* there *was* a Marvel Godzilla series. This is a more modern version of the monster, and his foe.

aka John Hudson

Referred to as the "Father of Alpha Flight", John Hudson is directly linked to the Galactus Incident by way of his father, whom was caught in the battles that anointed Logan as Herald of Galactus. These effects did manifest in John's early years. This lead to him being actively recruited in Department H with his name appearing in the RCMP's honored officers and people of note.

Throughout the Cold War, John Hudson did carry Alpha Flight's mission of "good government" to the wider world. It is at this time that John Hudson gained his trademark red/white/maple leaf leotard. This suit did channel his powers to the point that he was often remarked as the "new Logan".

It is at the end of the Cold War/90's that proved difficult to Alpha Flight in general. Given the rise of SHIELD in their escapades in Madripor and Genosha, there was a definite break within Alpha Flight on whether or not Department H should follow the US lead in the "Mutant" problem. John Hudson was for a pro-mutant stance and was caught up in several heated debates between super heroes on whether or not they should be monitored by a larger government.

Of the many battles that John Hudson fought in his tenure ranged from the Victor Creed incident, the Madripor incident, the return of Logan, the founding of STRIKE, and the recent anti-SHIELD legislation in Canada/UK.

Currently John Hudson has retired from super hero actions, married his long term partner Vindicator (Heather Hudson), and is the head officer for Department H.

Guardian

Heather Hudson (ala Vindicator) is regarded as another founder of the modern Alpha Flight. She is recorded as the first woman of African origin to run a government super hero team. She does have dual citizenship with her mother originally hailing from Virginia and then relocated due to the Underground Railroad.

Heather Hudson does have the ability to fly, super strength, and the ability to interface with "nature". She does have a lengthy history involving Shaman and Sasquatch. Heather Hudson is easily identifiable by the simple red/white tunic that she wears as her uniform.

It should also be noted that Heather Hudson's career started in the late '80's compared to her husband to started in the late '70's.

The Silver Samurai
aka Kenuichio Harada

The history of the Silver Samurai is long and laborious to list here. He has been both a hero and a villain to many. SHIELD does register him as the leader of the Hand. However, the Japanese government disagrees with him, and has issued a general pardon to the Silver Samurai due to his previous actions attributed to a psuedo-SHIELD takeover of Japan (although this has never been proven).

The Silver Samurai is easily recognizable by his silver samurai armor and his ability to project a tachyon field.

Recently the Silver Samurai has been seen opening formal relations with Madripor in light of their new government.

One Big One!!!!

Sauron (a.k.a. Karl Lykos)-Archaeologist Karl Lykos, Harvard University, and his assistant Tanya Anderssen sparked controversy in the world of archaeology, after proposing several ideas. The first was that Immanuel Velikovsky, Zechariah Sitchin, and later Erich von Daniken were correct in their assumptions that the pantheons of legend were true, and that they were evidence of earlier antediluvian cultures. Where he went a step further, was to sat that teh author J.R.R. Tolkien and his Middle Earth stories were actually a record of Hyperborean Northern Europe (c.75,000-10,000 BC). In 1978, Lykos began receiving what he would note as "prophetic dreams", which pointed him in the direction of the Karelian region of Finland. After discovering a series of pyramids near Annatar Point near the Finnish/Soviet border in 1982, he discovered a gauntlet which appeared to be listed as that of Sauron. In 2001, when financier Malcolm Colcord threatened to withdraw funding for his archaeological work, close to bankruptcy, Lykos became desperate. He placed on the gauntlet, and became inhabited by the spirit of Sauron a.k.a. "Annatar" a.k.a. "Gorthaur, the Abhorred Dread" a.k.a. "Sauron the Deceiver" a.k.a."Dark Lord of Mordor". He set about a rampage in New York City, NY, before he disappeared. According to Dr. Tanya Anderssen's notes, there is a deadlier aspect to this transformation. According to Anderssen's and Lykos' theories, Sauron was also the being who destroyed whole patheons of supposed eternals, such as Thor, Heimdall, Loki, Kali, et al.

One That Almost Got Away....

Colossus a.k.a. Pyotr Rasputin- Pyotr Rasputin was born on a Soviet collective farm called the Ust-Ordynski Collective near Lake Baikal in Siberia in 1975. He is a member of the Izmailovskaya gang who emerged from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. He is also an enforcer for his brother Mikhail Rasputin, after an alleged assassination attempt in 1998. In 2000, he had his first encounter with U.S. law enforcement after attempting to transport an illegal shipment of Maxima PM 1910s past security in New York City, NY. Since 2001, he has been romantically involved with the ballerina Anya Makarova. Yet according to SHIELD and INTERPOL reports that he was recently initiated into the Brotherhood, after a meeting between Magneto and Kitty Pryde on Ryker's Island. What is also troubling is his relationship with Lieutenant Laynia Petrovna, a GRU agent based in Moscow.

SPOILER ALERT

Pyotr Rasputin is actually working undercover with INTERPOL and the GRU. Lieutenant Laynia Petrovna is his case officer. Much like Viggo Mortensen's character in Eastern Promises, he is currently working another agenda, that includes preventing the Izmailovskaya gang from allying with the Brotherhood of Mutants under Magneto. Everything else is unknown....

And Things Get Hotter

Colonel Wendell Elvis Vaughn (a.k.a. "Raksor")- Unbeknownst to Nick Fury or the U.S. government, SHIELD has been penetrated by a Skrull deepcover agent since 1978. He reports directly to Empress Anelle. Based out of a SHIELD field headquarters in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the Skrull agents acted so quickly that no agents were able to detect a shift in the behavior of the agents. In 1992, Sergeant Wendell Vaughn began Project Pegasus which has been tranferring weapons such as the Nega-Bomb and the Ultimate Nullifier, 200 miles outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Unbeknownst to the Skrull agents and SHIELD, Phyla-Vehl, daughter of General Mar-Vehl has suspected since 2003, that the SHIELD agency has been infiltrated by Skrulls. What has also been recently uncovered is the fact that President K'ang Bei Wang has cited Project Pegasus as a "threat to international security" and a "severe violation of treaty agreements".
