"Now is not the time to pick enemies. Whilst it is incredibly likely that wrongdoings are happening in the state of Queensland, this should not become a polarizing issue. I will stand with my coalition partners, not because I want to, but because I should. This is no time to point fingers and blame, we still must be active against corruption, wherever it is, or whoever participates in it".
Ian Sinclair, July 11, 1987

The Prime Minister revealed the national enquiries plans on July 16

"For months now, the nation has been to hell and back, and the man that headed it was the Queensland premier, Joh Bjelke-Petersen. Mr Petersen has constantly refused to budge in beginning a state enquiry into corruption within his state, so, my cabinet and I have taken it upon ourselves to begin a federal inquiry. Mr Howard, Mr Sinclair and I have each agreed to set boundaries to which the enquiry can look into, and we have also agreed that the Chief Justice Anthony Mason should lead such an enquiry".
Bob Hawke, July 16, 1987

One minor nitpick: you may want to edit the February 30 date earlier in the text.
I assumed that was intentional; In Len Deighton's book Bomber, he describes a Bomber Command raid on Germany from the viewpoints of both the attackers and those on the recieving end. The raid takes place on June 31st, 1943.
