Idea: McKinley dies during his first term

WI William McKinley had died after the death of his Vice-President, Garret Hobart, in late November 1899, but before the 1900 election?
Who would be nominated by either party and who do you think would win the general election?

I would definately want someone like LaFollete to end up president but that's probably unlikely. Maybe in a world where him and Teddy Roosevelt make it past their differences enough to run on the same ticket.

wow...talk about a potential for a constitutional crisis...McKinley dying and Hobart dying in 1899...which would put John Hay in the office till the 1900 election...depending on who dies first could have McKinley, Hobart, Hay all with in a year.

1900 could see Hay versus Thomas Bracket Reed for the Nomination with Teddy ending up the VP just to get him out of the New York political scene.
